IMOO they should provide a full DB dump before the place dies. If they're worried about us reading PMs and that sort of thing, they should simply omit them, I doubt many would care if those were lost |
Don't think they care about that because Pax is the new admin and we all know he spilled the beans on PM's once.
Still fishing! | But Pax i... wait a minute!

I'll take a look when I have time and feel like doing so.
No offence, but Phill and I had everything ready to go 2 years ago now and no one seemed to give enough of a shit to get us what we needed. We tried numerous times to get at least a partial database dump so that we could see what modifications we'd have to deal with, but we got no response. I lost interest, Phill left for a while and if you've read the VIP section, you know that my ending of 2016 sucked balls so I've been taking it easy lately. I'm still fully booked for work, so I don't have time during the day and I haven't felt like getting shit up and running again after hours yet. We're probably a couple versions of PHPBB behind again at this point too. I'm pretty sure that most of what I did is obsolete by now, because from what I remember PHPBB was about to undergo a complete architectural overhaul. Whether the theme works on whatever the current version is I don't know, but they tend to keep that a bit more backwards compatible.
I'll get around to it at some point, but it's not as easy as you seem to think it is.

What makes you believe I think it's easy? I don't remember saying that.

At least for now the forum is running pretty good so it seems that whatever measures were taken work.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Is that really such a bad thing though?
I think that as long as it's running well/stable, and some sort of a backup is made every once in a while just in case, there's nothing wrong with keeping it old-school, back when times were simpler!

@AmpegV4 The question you have to ask yourself is, what does this community have to offer to the outside audience? For it to "succeed" in the "mainstream", it has to offer something extra that is not found out there. An edge.
This edge used to be fun trolling and free piracy discussion. Then people grew up and grew weary of the trolling. They also found jobs, and so, for the most part they don't pirate anymore. And so, what else remains here? People sure, but a lot of the quality people have left already. Some great ones remain, and I'd reckon this is the reason people come back here. But what is there here to draw more people in, even if a facelift is made?

At least make it so the forum knows how to handle .mp4's.
This 2003-design template is pure nostalgia.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.
