I was so amazed for a long time when I played the Matrix demo through on PS5 with OLED television, god damn what graphics and the amount of shit on screen is literally unreal, it looked better than Matrix Resurrection VFX .
EDIT: is that some next-gen vertical aspect ratio what is on that demo?

UE5 does have some really great techdemos. Unfortunially we are going to end up again with 1080p30 for most games because of console limitations... Sure, PC can then push higher res but I doubt many developers will put ressources into creating higher detailed assets (even if it's rather easy with nanite and such) when consoles can't use those.

UE5 Citiy demo ran like shit on my 6900XT/3600XT combo. Well maybe it's the CPU, but still...

polycount isn't really an issue any more so i doubt the assets themselves will be an issue that anyone would complain about. the most beautiful game i've ever seen in terms of assets and set pieces is Uncharted 4 (2016), both in terms of details, variation and how many there are, this engine can outdo that x100 probably...
I think console vs PC will be about resolution, FPS and raytracing and AA quality.

Those scenes should be no problem for a modern PC... but image quality could be a little worse since this isn't real time. if you've seen the other presentations, they're just as good in terms of realistic lighting and such + they use way higher polycount. This is just a demo from some dude, it's done on 1 PC (RTX 2080, Ryzen 7 3700x).. in realtime it can run 30-50 FPS according to his FAQ, he also did no optimization yet.
The RDR showcase is incredible. Makes me realize how much i would want a Fallout game with that kind of detail. It also makes me wonder how outdated Starfield will look (and likely the next FO game too :/ )

It's not epic's fault, that's on each individual developer and publisher. What Epic's doing here is trying to solve devs work a bit from their side, to make it easier. But this falls on each invidual game to be worked on on this aspect. Though it should be better as time goes on, theoretically
looking pretty good of course techdemos usually do, but seeing it from the editor view is pretty mindblowing, how manymany poly's it can push, lighting.
