Ultrawide gamers are still getting a middle finger.
Which is reaaaally strange because sometimes the game starts up and the left and right borders are invisible and I can see the world load and after like ~5 seconds elden ring suddenly remembers that it doesn't support ultra wide screen and adds the borders back
Whats weird for my LG c9 is that olaying this in 1440p in excl fullscreen sometimes (as in more often than never) the signal will just crap out for me when the game starts... I have to tab out tab in multiple times to get it working... Kind of annoying
Performance is terrible, camera is fucking you in the ass, world is ugly in so many ways, gameplay is copy pasta from DS so nothing innovative there...
1. What the fuck is wrong with this world?
2. Why can't I ATTACK IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CAMERA - that is controlled by the mouse?!
3. Why the apple is round?
4. Where's the last piece of pizza I left on the kitchen table?
5. Where are my keys?

It gets good reviews because the people reviewing it are fans of the Dark Souls games and know the playstyle and what to expect so it is mostly a lot of targeted reviewers that Bandai Namco knew would give it good review scores and ignore the flaws.
Holy shit thats awesome, I always wanted to see the world zoomed out.
Well... yes and no.
ANY(!) 3d environment can be made to look so good via tilt shift effects.

Some scenes look quite stunning
I'd truly like to know which scenes are those. Because for me this game looks mostly average to terrible. Both from a technological pov but also artistically.

Let me quote myself from the top of this page:

Just 2 sets i really like are for example 25 secs and 2 min 40 secs.
Graphically (technically) it's not the least impressive, but i do think design wise they've always been pretty good.
What Japanese developers seems to get is scale, epic environments and enemies, much more so than for example Bethesda or any western ARPG maker. Play Xenoblade Chronicles X or this game and then come back to Morrowind or something and you can tell how flat and small everything is..
I DO find the tilt shift stuff looking rather cute (so that translates to nice, I'd say).
But that is just an artificial embellishment that can be applied everywhere with impressive results. So that's truly not representative for the default, natural aspect of the game / original material. In comparison, take a game like RDR2, for example. You don't need any sort of new shaders or other tilt shit to take some scenes and make them look gorgeous. The game already is technically and artistically portrayed excellently.
Elden Ring is... a 'safe' world, in so, SO many ways. I guess that's what makes it so popular.
Where are the reasonable reviews then? Steam? 'Journalists'? Opencritic? You can say that to dismiss any group that reviews games.
People who use their own money and time to play something they love VS people in it for the money, advertising, free shit, subscriber counts etc.
I'd take user reviews over paid shills and mental souls fans. At least the negative reviews in that link point out issues that haven't been fixed to this day.
