Im enjoying it. Kinda like an action rpg real time desperados? Some of the issues I read on the reviews are already fixed. You can go into areas a bit how you want, stealth or guns blazing.
Shot a dude, vulture came down to feast on his body, I shot the vulture and then ate it. How ya like me now you little bitch.
I think it sounds really cool from the descriptions of the mechanics, no idea how it ultimately plays. Definitely gonna try in a few months...
So imagine Helldivers kind of shooting and moving around.
Light RPG elements. You level up by finding a couple different trasures.
Loot/treasure system. You can find better weapons. You can also find and mine minerals that you can use at a blacksmith to upgrade even further.
Traveling around the map has random encounters which can sometimes lead to an ally, treasure, or just plain getting your ass mauled by a pack of hungry bears. As you explore you reveal more map and more hidden areas. There's treasure maps you can find to find hidden treasure. You can steal a horse and travel the map faster but it'll run away after you use it and get to your location.
You can hire mercenaries to travel with you, you can equip them with guns (think D2 merc)
You can go in guns blazing or stealth. Stuff in the environment can be used to your advantage. Shoot an oil lamp near dudes and it'll explode and burn them. You can kick barrels off ledges to fall on them and splode. Take cover behind rocks and crates. Sometimes if you do someone a solid they'll come in when you're about to die and help you out.
You can pickpocket people while it's night time, trespass. You can get arrested for doing dumb shit, pay a fee or lose reputation.
It's like they took a bunch of mechanics from a bunch of different games that were awesome and packed them all into this. So far I don't really have any negatives. Love the art style too.
Cool. Gonna follow on Steam to see what it has in store in terms of updates and possibly addons/DLC's later on...
Copy pasta from a review, kinda cool. I'm not far enough yet but this is cool
"The story of Weird West works as an anthology. There are five characters, who you play in sequence, each with their own story to unravel and specific problems to solve: a bounty hunter whose husband has been kidnapped by a powerful fleshing-eating entity; a hogman hungry for revenge after their horrific transformation; a young Anishinaabe hunter defending his home from the spirit of greed; a werewolf; and finally, a witch. Bridging each of these distinct chapters are several recurring characters – a strange young girl who speaks in riddles, a wandering witch who plays games with you, and a bounty hunter obsessed with immortality and bad jokes.
Each life lived spills over into the next chapter. If you liberate a monster-infested ghost town as the bounty hunter, it’ll be a bustling place with shopkeepers and a saloon when you return as the hogman. Similarly, if you go on a huge robbery or killing spree, that place will be empty except for an overflowing graveyard. Previous characters also persist in the world after you’ve finished playing them, hanging about ready to be recruited into your posse."
