ELEX2\data\ini
Find configdefault.xml and look for "FOV"
Change it to 110
Save file
Last and most important step is make the file "read only" Laughing

Nice!

Elex II Patch 1!
Hey everyone!

We have just launched the first patch for Elex II on steam

Patch notes are as follows -

* Fixed problems with certain graphic cards (especially VEGA chipsets)
* Fixed some screen tearing problems
* Reduced mesh size
* Increased mesh cache size
* Fixed a bug where mesh cache got fragmented over time
* Fixed a bug in controller support
* Fixed various smaller bugs

We also released a patch on Playstation 4 and 5 that fixes the screen tearing

More information for other platforms will come in the future.

Remember if you have issues with our game to report them here - https://redmine.thqnordic.com/projects/elex2-community/issues/new

The first comment in the patch thread is about the camera Laughing Laughing When something so bizzare happens, i would literally want to ask the devs what was the thought process that went into it. Everything was good in Elex 1 (camera wise). The fov, the mouse input, the way camera worked. All these being fucked in Elex 2 means they actively worked to make it like this. They actually spent development time, coding, effort to make everything infinitely worse. How ? Why ?

There's no other game that does this with the camera, springing it back and forth constantly. How did they get the idea for this ? There were even complaints about it from the people who previewed the game also.

Crazy isn't it. Apart from Gothic II, it's like they can't make a decent sequel to save themselves, even though they have VERY solid bases to work from.

Quick update: Beside MUCH better graphics and slightly better (less frustrating) combat, everything else is pretty much the same old Piranhas.
Unfortunatelly, storytelling is terrible and I had zero attraction to the "plot" and characters, uninstalled it after 1.5 hours, there are better ways to spend time.

So, the writing is crap in this one? That's a shame, I really liked the previous game.

I don't feel like its any better or worse then their previous games.

And btw. whenever the gfx are not glitching, the combination of light, shadows, flora etc. looks pretty awesome at times. Its certainly more complex and detailed than the first Elex.

Another game that just never entered my sphere of interest. I never liked the Gothic series (not only because they were so ridiculously buggy) and I remember feeling the same disinterest when the first Elex was released. Is anybody here really enjoying it?

I do, but I count is more as a guilty pleasure. Its not a good game by most peoples standards. Enjoying it none the less.

I highly recommend you guys check out The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos (G2 total conversion mod) if you haven't played it already. It's on par with Gothic 2 and really feels like a PB game. Having finished Elex 2 I definitely enjoyed Archolos more. Wink

Camera mod for those with weak stomachs. Not perfect, but provides a fixed FOV when running/walking.

Its awesome. In some respects even better than G2.

holly shit. This mod actually removes the mouse acceleration. How embarassing for the devs that a mod by one guy fixed this before they did

The hardest part was actually trying to find a way to get the readable file back into the games format because the packer/unpacker/converter elex2resman isn't quite there yet.
Had to actually delete something and then add it back at the end with a hex editor, lol.

Still trying to find a way to control the camera distance to the player character.

You did the mod ? Smile Awesome job. From my point of view, the removal of the mouse acceleration was the number one issue. Fov and the dumb dynamic camera are annoying, but livable with. But having the camera feel like its on a spring was something that affects the entirety of one's interaction with the game. The game is 100 times more enjoyable to play now

For me it's the opposite way around strangely (though I am sensitive to anything that isn't raw input). I just could NOT live with the claustrophobic FOV. It's fine while moving but the value when standing still is just unbearable.

Also, yes It was me, hi! Honestly as soon as elex2resman fully supports the games files I'm sure there will be a much better MOD by people who actually know what they're doing in no time.
But I'm kinda happy with my one and only released MOD. More happy that I can actually enjoy the game now though. Very Happy

From what I saw on the Steam forums your mod is a literal gamechanger for some people and it's here now, even if it's not perfect.

IDK why they didn't make this an optional feature. And why they removed the camera zooming

The game had mouse acceleration?! Facepalm Laughing

Are you sure these are the same guys that made Gothic... ?!

I doubt it.

Didn't you know... ?

Removing player agency is a cOoL popular trend nowadays.

Good job, friend.

You should stop working for free and e-mail the devs to offer them your superior services, as it looks they had no fucking clue on how to implement the simplest PC features into their derp game.

The bizzare thing is they absolutely know. Outside of maybe Gothic 1, which was designed for keyboard only and got mouse shoehorned right before release due to complaints from focus tests, all their games have no issue regarding this. From memory, ALL their games control the camera zoom when using the mouse wheel. Proper raw input. Fov.

They activelly worked on Elex 2 to destroy all these things. Thats why i would be curious to hear their thought process. They expended effort, manpower, money, time - to fuck things up that they were doing right for 20 years, over 7 games. The game clearly has an extremely low budget and very few people working on it. So how did the decision came to take these tight resources and spend them on breaking shit that was already working.

One guy on steam is so grateful for this mod he wants to donate to C.Mac and asked indications on how to do it Very Happy Thats how bad they released the game, that this guy wants to pay for the relief he feels now with the mod

ELEX (1) had no FOV slider, but at least it had camera zoom and proper, normal, raw mouse input.

Yeah, they dont have sliders for fov, but because we could control the camera, the extra fov came from that. We can pull the camera all the way back which gives us extra viewing area.

That's (zoom out camera) not the same thing and it's never a substitute for a proper FOV (slider / value). Yes, it 'could' make things easier on the eye on certain cases (open areas), but it's still a shit situation.

anyway.meme

I could have overlooked the technical mess, but the intro story / narration are just... amateur, nausea-inducing, non-imaginative, awfully casual bull-crap. There is absolutely NOTHING interesting about the generic world or characters, both in Elex 1 and 2. Damn, son, I still remember Risen (1) with it's special atmosphere...

When even very experienced devs. in action RPG-ness can't deliver a proper decent experience... you know something's fucked in Rus... I mean Ger... I mean the industry.

Fucking sad times we're living, men.
