geez i thought they would migrate everything to the xbox launcher, this is quite the silly move, they are just losing market share, although much better for me since i'd rather have steam.
Later this year, the Bethesda.net Launcher is going to ride off into the Appalachian sunset. When it does, all of our PC Bethesda.net players will be able to continue playing Fallout 76, as well as any other games they owned through the Bethesda.net Launcher, on Steam. This isn’t happening next week, or even next month, but we wanted to share an early heads-up so that you’re prepared to initiate the account migration process over to Steam starting in April. At that time, we’ll post detailed instructions that will help you move your Bethesda.net library to Steam quickly and easily.
You won’t have to worry about losing a thing, either. We’re taking every precaution to ensure your Fallout 76 characters, progression, Atoms, Season progress, cosmetics, rewards, your friends list, and even the Perfectly Preserved Pies you’ve been hoarding, make that journey with you. In addition, your Bethesda.net account will remain accessible on our website, and you will still use it to log into and play Fallout 76.
However, there are a few specific things to keep in mind for Fallout 76 during account migration, and we’re sure you have a few questions. We’re sure you will have a lot of questions, and we encourage you to read through our FAQ for Fallout 76 on Fallout.com.

Bad timing for me as I bought Quake and Quake II on Steam during the Winter sale and those were some of the previous freebies on the Bethesda Launcher so I would have free Steam copies with this change.
It will be interesting to see how this migration works as this is the first time I think this sort of thing has happened where all your purchased items get moved over to Steam. I am kind of surprised they did not somehow make them Windows Store versions they were giving out instead.
ATTENTION PC PLAYERS: We are retiring the Bethesda Launcher and moving to Steam.
Whoever thinks they decided to do a "good" thing for gamers - they are not, they are simply cutting the cost of keeping own game content delivery servers and the Battle.net account will STILL be required:
Q: Does the Launcher closing affect my Bethesda.net account?
A: No. You will still need to login to your Bethesda.net account to play our live titles such as Fallout 76 and access other services offered. Our games will continue to use a Bethesda.net account in the future.
Fuck them, still not going to buy anything requiring TWO different accounts at the same time.

Bought Doom Eternal on greenmangaming when it came out and didn't pay attention to the fine print that it used Bethesda's shit launcher This is good news.
With the sunsetting of the launcher, we'll be making several of our titles available on Steam that were previously unavailable. This includes TES Arena, TES Daggerfall, Creation Kit for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

Not sure what I had in Bethesda launcher but it transferred Morrowind GOTY to my Steam account... Which I already owned.
It is confusing since they say you will be able to transfer dupe games onto other Steam accounts as you just need to unlink and relink the new Steam account with your Bethesda account. I thought the transfer page might just show what games you would be transferring so you can uncheck the dupe games to do that but it does not seem to be the case so I might have to look into this more during the weekend.
