most likely the mobile version will be ported like in case of IV and V
Wonder if that means higher possibility of FFT or Chrono Trigger or other squeenix titles released recently on mobile
Or Secret of Mana The iOS version of SoM was incredible, with a fantastic new script and more detailed visuals.

Nowadays most everyone survives, it's rare where you see a main character die.. unlike the "good old days" of FF.
Finished watching a playthrough of the US Snes version, besides some minor censoring it seemed to be pretty good, translation isn't entirely faithful either as I understood it but apparently Kefka (US) is considered superior to Cefca (JP) as a bit less comical and instead darker. (Well I guess the censoring stuff isn't too bad really unless you really want to see more nudity on end-game "Kefka" and some summon. )
Also very impressed with what the original development team managed to do with the Snes hardware, music quality was great and quite varied too and then there's the scrolling and different perspectives even without that add-on chip used in a few later games which even allowed for simpler 3D polygon geometry.
(Lengthy main story as well plus subplots for each companion and little side quests and hidden scenes.)
EDIT: Wonder if the iOS version gets as crazily overpowered as the Snes version did near the end of the game, utilities that lower MP costs of spells down to 1 allowing you to spam some 300 or so Ultima (Dealing 9999 damage unblockable.) not to mention some of the companion specific abilities like Bumrush and Quadra slice.
(The end boss in that playthrough died in like what? barely 3 rounds and that's without grinding everyone to level 99.)
FYI
thats what some guy on NeoFAG said about ios version

The mobile port is really good!
I'm playing right now, but the fixed tons of stuff.
Yes, the classic sprite art is much better, I agree.
But this one is good too. Here some of the most notable enhancements:
-Cyan is usable now as he charges his Bushido actively, not manually
-It uses the GBA localization which is much richer than the original Woosley translation, which although still good, he was limited with cart sizes and was rushed.
-It has all the GBA enhancements--new dungeon, new Espers, and new equipment.
-Menu system is much better for battling.
-Much better character menus--you can see what Esper they have equipped and when party members level up without going into their individual status menus
-Music is SNES quality, unlike the GBA version
-Optional hints and journal so you can keep track of your progress.
-Auto battle! Helps in longer dungeons.
-Bug fixes--No more Vanish plus Doom. Plus the GBA bug fixes, such as Magic Evade actually working.
-Bestiary
-Music player!
It's a really great port. Yes the graphics hurt, but the overall enhancements make it worth it.
VI is out on Steam now, now to see how the user reviews and such will be in terms of how well ported it is or how to say.
(30 or 60 FPS? 15 FPS battles? stability and available resolutions and such stuff, game itself is good - though it seems these updated character sprites have gotten a fair bit of criticism both in V and VI - but how is the tech in the PC version, V still has a few issues I believe so might it be the same here?)
EDIT: As expected the sprites don't scale well to higher screen resolutions, windowed at 1440x900 or lower might work best, lower perhaps to preserve sprite detail further.
from what i understood that steam thread has some unpacker/editor or whatever - which can be used to mod both FF5 and FF6.
The actual "defilter" files works fine for FF6
Well the reviews are mostly because of the artstyle , game itslelf is great as always
