About 20 hours which were made slightly bearable by playing coop with a friend and continuously laughing at the abysmal writing and the plethora of bugs and lies.
You seem to miss the easy to understand point that liking is not the same thing with quality, but whatever.

No, i got what you ment with your "Like != good" post earlier. I just don't agree with you.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
dead island is just dying light without the parkour, set in a more exotic place at the start of the pandemic, maybe more co op focused. dyling light is an evolved dead island so why go back to that

Dead island actually has the better melee combat (try the controller!), although it is ultimately more repetitive than Dying Light.
the more restrictive level design of DI makes it a lot more tense and horror-like and while the parkour in DL really is amazing, i reckon these two games can stand on their own merits.
I remember that in order to make Dead Island feel less mundane I had to use the ol' Director Cut's mod, which introduced directional melee combat to m&kb as well as more unpredictable/challenging encounters. It didn't solve the problems with level scaling and the overall design, but it added a nice layer of tension to the game and was a definite improvement over the vanilla experience.
Although we know little about this Dead Island 2 Forever, I assume it will steer towards the full arcade-y couch-op-y route since that seems to be a very sought-after combo these days.

Well, parkour is fun - but personally i prefer more "realistic" (as realistic undead can get that is) zombiegames.
Edit: I mean when it comes to how the player can move around

Honestly, I have the DL2 Ultimate Edition with currently about 20 hrs played and I can't get myself to start the game. I prefer the exotic and fun gameplay of Dead Island over this. In DL2 I must use parkour at night unless I want to farm hordes of enemies. I like to play a game at my own pace and not what the current in-game clock dictates.
I knew what I got into when I preordered but I'm not really enjoying the game. I would much rather play DI2.
Sweeney'd as well of course, a must! (I've updated the thread's title along with the others)

Maybe... maybe between this and Dying Light 2, DI2 will end up being the less shitty one. Would be a hell of a plot twist...
Haha yeah, that would have been unthinkable until a couple of years back but here we are. Honestly, Dying Light 2 has set the bar so low that even a plain average zombie B-slasher would be an improvement. They say it's mainly co-op-based as expected but it will be possible to play it as a single-player game as well, we'll see when the isodemo will drop I guess.
