they couldnt even bother to hide lootboxes in the game for the belgian and netherlands market, so let that sink in, they dont want tens of thousands of founder keys that one coder could earn them with like 5 mins of coding a geolocation shop hider into their game for a few nations
meaning they are pure trash dev that relies on lootboxes to milk everyone dry after they are hooked wanting to only serve the lootbox microtrans gaming as a service gamer
and this whole round table cringe twitch table talk show they had last night with all those instagram "gamers" talking out of their asses made it very clear how much they care about gamers, gambling gamers who will buy all their future microtransactions
if it was really that good, it would have hit europe way sooner imo
i predict nobody will be talking about this game anymore just like new world in under a month

Being that it is F2P I could see more sticking around longer than New World. I will at least give it a shot since it is F2P but I am not sure if I want to bother and invest too much time into an MMO like this because it is F2P so it means you probably will be gimped in some form or another compared to those that spend money.

Imagine not having PickupArtist on ignore yet.
Glad they added DX11. Auto HDR helps with the visuals, so does DLDSR.
Runs well und looks nice.
From what I've seen the content and its variation is pretty huge.
Too bad the gameplay and especially questing is the same old MMO stuff. And you'll again do that for hundreds of hours.
Certainly better than New World. In Korea, a country flooded with MMOs, it stands tall and it has kept its hype for almost a decade in development.
It should settle among the best of MMOs but MMOs being MMOs that doesn't say much imho.

Have been looking forward to this since I saw the first trailers on youtube like 7 years ago. Sadly, Amazon/Smilegate decided to stick to allowing lootbox drops to be tradeable, so that's that.. Still undecided on whether I'm making a German steam account and going that route, but I doubt it.
Contrary to what I usually read, it's not lootboxes itself that's the problem. Those are fine. It's when it's possible to resell whatever you get from those boxes that gambling oversight here says it's a no go. Since it'd allow out-of-game markets for real cash to pop up, and technically, buying lootboxes could net you money, making it gambling.

I gave it a try, a mixed bag I don't think for me. First up its very much isometric guild wars clone, I find it very hard to compare to a proper ARPG
Pro's
- Its really polished, it looks good and performs well even on older systems.
- It plays well solo, you do decent damage to mobs and bosses.
- Boss fights are pretty good, I like the way attacks are telegraphed and easy to see/
Con's
- Your given 8 or so powerful skills from the start and unlock a few more on the way, you can basically stun lock or kill the entire screen from level 1-50 (so perfect for modern gamer), difficulty is lacklustre even running dungeons on "hard".
- Typical MMO mechanics you would expect from games like guild wars, fetching, hidden quests, hidden collectables across massive maps. Not as deep as typical MMO.
- Boring writing, I was escaping and 'g g g g g' any writing & dialog after 20mins, sadly there is lots of it.
- Because your given OP skills, progression is weak. Your not unlocking any significant power in levelling up and replacing gear (played from 1-25).

Yes it's an isometric MMO and not an ARPG also 1-25 is absolutely nothing in this game.
The entire 1-50 journey is old content that is basically just an introduction to get through it encompasses not even 5% of the actual content of the game.
Once you get to 50, the introductory phase ends and you get into the "tutorial" phase where all the real mechanics and systems of the game are opened up.
Lost Ark is basically the definition of the real game starts here.

It's ok tbh i'm usually really sensitive to that shit and quit on the spot with p2w games but the shop is really unnecessary so far they usually get me with (sexy) cosmetics but even those are either non existent or very underwhelming here so far.

Well no biggie, i just couldn't be bothered to spend another full day or more to get to level 50 to finally experience 'the real game'. It's an MMO first and foremost, with a fairly snappy ARPG lite combat system that works well enough.
I know its not an ARPG. I just found it too repetitive for too little reward, In the same time I played this i could have taken a build in take your pick ARPG to L70-80 with more interesting progression and game-play.
It's not a bad game, i just felt a game like GW2 does MMO better, and any ARPG does combat better so i dunno, its free to try out anyway.

All such games that use loot boxes, or at least the mechanic, should be banned in Belgium. And some in Netherlands but there aren't official laws against them, as far as I understand. In FIFA's case the FUT is banned but the game is "playable".

Great country we have (netherlands). State owned casino's that spend a lot of money on advertising to make more people gamble: Good!
Playing a game with lootboxes: Oh noes, that's bad for you, illegal!

Lootboxes can reach children, casinos not so much.

If they start letting in underaged kids with their parent's credit card numbers play in casinos then casinos should also get banned.
Otherwise I see no problem in adult dumbfucks losing money in dumbfuck ways.

That's not an argument. You could ban everything to protect the children. Why not ban collectible card games? Those are expensive as fuck also. What's the difference with loot boxes?

By "card games" you mean those random booster packs? They should absolutely be regulated too.
