Having a blast. Grinding is fun. Battles are fun. Story is decent. I hope tpc leaves buys out Nintendo shares and moves on to better spec's systems.

Recently completed (both are replays):

K so I got bored with control. Running through the same building same rooms over and over and over. Gave up. Does it open up or is metroidvania like that and it's all in the same building with backtracking and shit? Gameplay is dope, but I don't know where to go half the time.

There are different environments (some really mindblowing ones among them) and as you progress you'll take control points that you'll use to teleport between. It does take a while to get to the more interesting parts as well as get into the story.

Doom Eternal

My second playthrough is much more fun now that I know what to expect from levels and abilities. Finally feels like I'm playing an id classic, didn't expect that.

First playthrough was pain in the ass until a point I learned all the mechanics and enemies. "Hell on Earth" is really a bad introduction to the game considering how crappy gunplay is with starting weapons and no upgrades, and levels are too long IMO - they should be at least split up. Took me at least two sittings to finish each, due to getting overwhelmed of constant running and gunning.

That might be my favorite game i played last year. Awesome soundtrack too. It kind of drags towards the end with the sewer levels but i can't wait for the expansion.

Last 2 games:

Divinity: Original Sin 2 (2nd playthrough), enjoyed it quite a bit more than my first play through since i understood if you don't CC the enemy in the first round, you're fucked. Also the soundtrack to this one has no business being as good as it is.

God of War on PC, i believe this was probably my 3rd playthrough (2 on ps4). Enjoyed it but the last quarter of the game was pretty boring since i had killed all the valkyries and gotten the mist armors from niflheim and pretty much facerolled the rest of the story content. Was super annoyed at the depth of field setting for the whole game, felt like i wasn't wearing my glasses. This shit doesn't work in games since the game doesn't know what YOU, the player behind the monitor, are focusing on.

God of War, and enjoying it. Exploration is fun and rewarding, the world is big enough but also not too big, so it's actually feasible to collect most of the shit lying around (the exception being Odin's Ravens, perhaps).

Was dreading the 'souls-like' gameplay, but it's quite nice and forgiving (eg no additional punishment for getting killed and also respawn near by).
Playing with controller, so the axe throwing is nerve-racking though Laughing

Completed Guardians o/t Galaxy recently, and liked that too. But to a lesser extend that GoW; the corridors and limited spaces in GotG are very apparent. Combat was also a bit too hectic/chaotic at times, trying to find a balance between fighting yourself and giving orders to the squad.

Also completed Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, and also liked that. A bit quirky at times and rough around the edges, but its heart in is in the right place and the cases are all fun. Combat feels unnecessary for a game like this, but you can either make it super-easy or even turn it off completely.

And abandoned Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Crack got corrupted after a Windows update, and I really couldn't be arsed to re-install. What a disappointment this was. It seemingly had everything; best graphics of the series, most minigames, biggest world. But the turn-based combat absolutely killed it. And because the main character isn't nearly as charismatic as Kiryu or Akiyama, there wasn't any interest to complete the story either. What a shame.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Chorus; a fast-paced arcade space combat game that puts a lot of emphasis on the story. It's an interesting combo on paper, but between the shallow contents and the nearly insufferable tone of the writing, it ended up being a sad trombone more than anything else.

(Replays)
Thief 2 with the mandatory T2Fix (the HD Mod is optional, but recommended); still a very remarkable experience that puts modern stealth games to shame. It loses the outlandish supernatural elements of the first Thief, but the steampunk-y atmosphere with its complex layouts and the mechanical enemies resonate better with me. As for the gameplay itself, it pretty much is everlasting with the methodical approach, AI that reacts to sound propagation, handholding-free exploration and top-notch immersion.

Blood: Fresh Supply; the best version of a classic. Satisfying level design, zero guidance, hard as nails, it's got the whole package. Maranaaaahhh caecux infirmux!!

I too started Chorus and I can't bring myself to play through the Z-Level writing Crying or Very sad And the main character looks like some bimbo cloned from a skyrim sex doll mod with depression.

Who called it souls-like? This is as standard as it gets Very Happy

I know Very Happy I think I got the initial impression after watching mostly gameplay videos of boss fights. But the game's not even that hard, which I like, considering the character you play with.

Bioshock Remastered (with some mods and some ReShade shaders).

Alice - Madness Returns (it's an old-school platform action/puzzle game and it does feel old and not as good as the first game)

Forza Horizon 4 which I installed yesterday. I've uninstalled FH5 after feeling the boredom of that game overtake me. Here's hoping that there are still people playing FH4.

Crusader Kings III
Never actually played it properly until now, guess I was dreading the no-life period that goes with it Laughing
UI took a bit getting used to, but the game's an improvement all around from the already brilliant CKII.
Started as the count of Antwerp in 867, and slowly working my way up/expanding. My current highest rank is Duke, so don't have my own royal court (only visited my liege's), so can't say much about the latest DLC yet, but it looks nice and a promising direction the game's going.

I started that too after not really understanding CK2. I found this to be much more approachable. I kept playing as Ireland and started taking counties. One war I got into with a county was lasting forever and I wasn't paying attention as a couple of counties I took ended up seceding from me. And the guy I was fighting kept running his army from mine and when I went back to his county seat, he would wander over to one of my cities and attack it. I stopped after that as it was overwhelming and I just couldn't beat him.

Started playing Port Royale 4 again and getting back into Fallout 76.

Yes, the one major difference with CKII that took a bit getting used to are the succession laws. It's not possible to change from confederate partition, so titles always get divided equally among all (male) children.

My first character already had 3 male children, so I learned quickly how to disinherit Laughing
The 2nd character got a son when close to dieing ("infirm"), so I was lucky to have just enough renown to disinherit Very Happy
My 3rd character's spouse got also pregnant near the end of his life. "Luckily", I found out she had an affair while she was 7 months pregnant. Couldn't kill her, as my character had the compassionate trait, so quickly got divorced and threw her in jail instead. Poor kid only lasted a few years in the dungeon Laughing
On the fourth character now, and became king of Frisia (so finally have access to the royal court, it's cool!), that makes it a bit easier to gain renown.

Starting from count and working your way up is the best way to learn the different mechanics, as each stage adds so much, but it takes a bit of patience to get going, depending on where you start.

Ireland is always good fun, yeah Smile It's a lot faster to get control over the island and become king. Instead of going for England, you can go south and try to conquer parts of Iberia (huge tech/development improvement). Big wasp nest (not as big as England though Razz ), especially when the muslims join in, but holy wars are great, esp when you have your own holy army Mr. Green
