low power use full hd 1080p integrated gaming is here 2 years faster then i expected, screw 1000 dollar gpus, all hail amd to stick it to team blue n green if i can get my hands on it for a reasanoble price. u have to be mental to still shell out 4 digits for a gfx card when that can get u TWO 500 usd laptops with screens n batteries n everything , 400 usd 6500u laptop here i come, and best part, i will still get 400 euro easy for my 3500u laptop lol
electricity prices are spiking globally, will only get worse, and seeying these doom numbers , u betcha more companies will start using vulcan
Januari 19! Still a rumor but... Yes!!
It's not a high end card but the good news here it's using a new production line at tsmc. A good step to end the GPU shortage.
AMD RX 6500 XT COULD've been a very good card for 1080P gaming.. but AMD fudged it up by only putting 4GB VRAM on it which is obviously making the card obsolete from the start. It was most likely done to avoid competing with their own RX 6600XT. If they had put 6GB on it we'd have a modern day 1060, lot's of performance for the buck.. MSRP is a mere $199 but the vendor prices will most likely be around $350-$400 since they're all price gouging bastard assholes.
First listenings begin here in germany at 1699,-, totally useless product. Why would anyone bother paying 100% uplift with just 2GB more RAM and 200 cute little shaders....
Got now 2x 3080s for MSRP at 830€ & 930€ within the last 4 months.
I only got this MSRP from EVGA and their list, got the FTW3 Ultra for 930€ and then 2 month later the XC3 Ultra for 830€ which i sold for 1,1k Had to cut some costs for the FTW3 since i dont wanted to pay over 800€ at all for a GFX.
So overall the FTW3 costed me around 700-750 all in all.... Dont mind the price seeing the status the last year and especially now with this release.
AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT (and a bunch of other topics) is a disaster.. they've nerfed it beyond belief:
Quote:
Asus is charging up to €334 for its RX 6500 XT
Using ONLY x4 lanes on PCIe, maxing out @ 8GB/s on PCIe 4.0 (and half that on PCIe 3)
Have 4GB GDDR6 VRAM
Lacks the ability for hardware encoding or decoding of H.264 and H.265
64-bit memory bus ( )
etc. etc.
lol the GPUs market is one of the only markets in which consumers actually see a standstill and even a severe degradation in the quality of the products.
I don't see when I'm getting a GPU that's even 2 years old any time soon.
The 3080 founders lasts me much longer than I anticipated.
I knew it only having 10gb of vram will be an issue... but it's still the top card. The drought is working in my favors ?

It's the best card out of the bunch imo, be glad you got it
10gb can be an issue in 4K which is a shame, but you'll live with it

I was lucky and dedicated.
I was hunting and scanning the nvidia store for whole week after release. I took even a day or two off to monitor distill.
I was ready. When it restocked, I had to add the cart button with chrome console to have access quicker. Normally it takes few long refreshes for cart button to appear.
So I go chrome, console, autofill shipping, pay, DONE. I check again and it's gone.
Had to do exactly the same with ps5. wtf is wrong with last 2 years
Th founders edition looks amazing. it's 2,5kg heavy card. zero gpu sag.
It is quite loud, coil whine can be a bit much and runs 80c in stress no matter what.
But I wouldn't replace it with any other model.
Oh... I need a smaller case. p600s is half empty inside

I wanted to get a FE aswell on release but ive never seen a buy button at the storepage and was pissed. Went to EVGA and got a place in the queue. Tried distill for month without success and after 11 Month i got my place in the queue for the FTW3 Ultra.
Serves me well with extended warrenty for just a bit over 900 bucks. Still lots of money i actually didnt wanted to spend since 750 was my initial sweetspot but that changed over the year and i adjusted to less than 1k and got blessed.
Overall the Card was even cheaper since i sold my old one for 200 bucks, got also another 3080 from EVGA 2 Month later which i scalped for another 250 euros profit, makes 480€ for the FTW....not bad id say in the current market.
I see no issue here with the 10GB, atleast not on 3440x1440 as the only games that got over 9GB usage was Doom and FC6 with no performance loss that i could see. NV does a good job with handling the VRAM.
I was also lucky and picked up a MSI 3080 gaming X 10gb for £700 early on..
Wanting to get back into VR at some point in the near future will be an issue with the 10gb with some games. People reporting alyx HL using up to 20+go of ram.
I’m not sure how my 3080 will run, I’ll do some tests with my sons Quest2.
Upgrading the 3080 is not an option anytime soon due to the insane prices.

Have you ever reached 10GB VRAM use? You need to use the sensor data from GPU-Z or similar to see actual VRAM usage and not look at allocated VRAM.
8GB VRAM should cover 99% of the gamers needs and only be an issue for 4K games where you use extreme/ultra settings that use a lot of VRAM for AA, 3D etc. (most 4K gamers use DLSS to upscale from 1440P afaik to get playable framerates anyway). So no, having "only" 10GB is not an issue and won't be for a long time even on 4K. The current generation of GPU's don't have the horsepower to max out settings in the most demanding games at 4K anyway and thus you won't use all of the VRAM.
And again, to properly measure actual VRAM usage you need to use something like GPU-Z, check the box for logging to file and then start your game and play it with various settings (untick the box to save the log for those particular settings and then start another text log and go into the game to try different settings). You can disable all sensors except VRAM usage to make it easier to read the logs to find max VRAM usage.
At what resolution? At 1440p maxed out it only uses around 6GB on my 3080. The PC Gamer review states it uses 7GB at 4K.
The issue on reddit (and everywhere else) suggests the VRAM usage continues to climb the longer you play the game. One guy said it was at 27GB at one point.
There's also a memory leak fix that can be found on Steam through the 'beta' tab as they've confirmed that's another issue

I don't actually know. I only check msi afterburner/rtss but it's probably allocated ram.

The only example that I can remember for a game that "needs" more then 10GB VRAM is Deathloop. Here is an excerpt from an article on computerbase.de:
Quote:
Deathloop places extremely high demands on the graphics card memory with maximum texture details in Ultra HD, especially with activated ray tracing. At least 16 GB is required for smooth operation - yes, 16 GB. If the graphics card only has 10 GB, no other resolution or graphics option may be changed after loading the saved game. If you do this, the graphics card memory will immediately overflow and the game will massively lose FPS. Then the only thing that helps is to restart Deathloop.
But even without switching, 10 GB is not optimal with full details including ray tracing in UHD. Then the game starts with a good frame rate, but it gets lower and lower over time. The problem still exists in WQHD, but the loss of performance there is significantly lower than in Ultra HD. If no option is changed, 10 GB is usually sufficient here. Mostly because there is occasionally a small reloading stutter over time. Even in Full HD with 10 GB and activated ray tracing, there are still slight limitations, but these are only noticeable when you compare the results with another graphics card.
With 12 GB, the situation is a bit more relaxed, but Deathloop still doesn't run smoothly with it. However, the FPS drop here is less than with a 10 GB graphics card and the performance drop occurs later than with a 10 GB accelerator. There were no recognizable problems with 12 GB in WQHD – but the editors didn't play for hours at a time.
Only with a 16 GB graphics card did we encounter any problems in the test. With so much memory, the gamer can change the resolution and graphics details as he pleases: the performance does not drop even without a reboot. Nevertheless, it is conceivable that problems will arise even with 16 GB after a longer playing time.
With 8 GB, Deathloop reacts a little worse with active ray tracing. Ultra HD is no longer playable with maximum texture details because there are noticeable stutters every few seconds. At least WQHD still runs smoothly without ray tracing, although it is unclear whether this also applies after a longer gaming session. And with ray tracing, the resolution must not be set higher than Full HD, in WQHD there are noticeable jerks every few seconds.
That said their engine has issues imo. And for 99,99999999% of all the games out there, 8GB is enough for now.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
uve got to be shitting me, so only reason they pushed out gpus is to sell mining cards , mothertruckers , typical intel running 5 years behind , if only this pyramid scheme would plop, billions in RnD down the shitter
