I'm afraid it won't improve the game to the point where it becomes interesting enough after the first 5 hours.

That 's'. Laughing

Sad that so many resources(?) went into cracling this masterpiece of mediocrity.

I finally got around to finishing this game and I must say, Ubisoft have outdone themselves. I think it's safe to say it's the worst Ubi game I have played in recent memory.

Playing WD1 and 2 again, I don't see how this can be called a sequel of any sort. The whole game revolves around a character switching gimmick that never becomes interesting, and the story falls flat over and over again. I can't believe how plain that ending was.

If each character truly brought something new to the table, it would have worked a lot better. But as it stands, you can do almost anything with any of them. The pros and cons of each barely outweigh one another. None of them will be memorable either, by the time the next game comes out I will have forgotten what they all look like, and even now, I can't recall any of their names.

Going back to WD1 and 2, these games have far better worlds with more interesting things to do. You can buy weapons and vehicles in WD2, for one. The only point to money in Legion is to buy clothes (seriously?!). The powers in the older games are far more satisfying and the immersion goes beyond that of most other games. In WD2 I saw someone get hit by a car, then a bystander called an ambulance, the paramedic arrived and walked over to the body. He started talking to it, then preceded to slap his face until he woke up. They both got up and the world continued on. Totally random. Even the first game has more stuff like this, it came out in 2014 yet it surpasses Cyberpunk's NPCs and city life by miles.

I never had much love for these games, but after playing quite a few duds over the past couple of years, it's nice to go back and see what progress looked like. Even if it was surrounded in 5,000,000 collectibles.

I don't know what the fuck is going on with games these days or why everything is stagnating. They can't even seem to copy and paste what worked anymore, which used to be a given.

Yup. Pretty much

The character gimmick killed it

But the story, characters and gameplay don't help (gameplay mostly being activating something that spawns enemy waves and completely destroys any incentive to stealth in this game)

Very loveless. A game without any passion except by whoever slaved away to create the detailed futuristic london. still one of the best looking PC games imho. as long as you don't look too closely at the characters.

Going back to WD2 WD1 creates a even more stark contrast. Because those games were so much fun and well paced.

Playing the Legion DLC where you got real main characters shows how detrimental the whole random, soulless, character switching thing was.

But that it definitely isn't the only problem. Because the DLC is also not great. Just a bit better than the main game.

It looked very promising when it was shown, but nothing ever came of it. The setting, the mechanics, it was all a great concept for trying something new and being innovative but ultimately they failed by dumbing down everything else in favour of new mechanics they simplified even more too.

I never finished this and might not even go for it, the Uplay+ save deleted itself twice, once erasing 12 hours of progress of a save I actually had a bit of fun with. I had to turn on Permadeath mode to make it a bit more worthwhile and have some sort of challenge/stakes but this also got boring quick. Bloodlines with it's short story overshadows the main game and that already says a lot.

Maybe it's time to go back to some sort of compelling story like W_D1 tried to do.
