GTAV or RDR2 - level graphics still stand out today. There is hardly any need for MORE investment in this direction. People are tired of all flash no substance products.
Make the damn gameplay and immersion fun and you're all set.
Not sure if it's just me, but does anybody else have trouble just really "spotting" things? It's hard to explain, somehow I have trouble really focusing on what items I pick up, I usually just around randomly and hit the button to pick stuff up.
It seems to be a combination of a lot of random items lying around, the artwork blending into each other, only being able to run (without a mod at least) and the general asthetics of the game. Compared to other games, I somehow can't really "enjoy" taking in the environments, even if they look good and well done.
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”
- Albert Camus
It's not you. The art style and graphics are all over the place. Apparently for CD Red "cyberpunk" rhymes with rainbows in every visual asset they employ.
As a visual designer, there is a constant loop in my mind - that takes less than a second - of gathering visual information and recompiling it for the sake of understanding, analyzing and recreating forms... So, in Cyberpunk I am fucked, as everything is... chaos.
And... as an opposite example(!) (of extremely well done, RICH, colorful and diverse visual melange) I can list: Dishonored 2, The Division (1), Bioshock Infinite and a few others.

Imagine if something like this was actually a part of an update from them, wow, people would've been amazed and given them a lot of cred.

After making this, I totally understand why they dropped this idea tbh. It's just so much work, and probably would have taken up lots of resources even at a big studio like CPDR (Just my guess)
Mafia from 2002 had a better system and a much smaller team. They didn't have all the resources, good will or the budget CDPR have either
The mod author doesn't have access to the proper tools or man hours that could have went into doing it properly, they just bit off more then they could chew and released it 2-3 years too early.
We're already a year out from release and what do they have to show for it? Delaying it by 12 months wouldn't have done anything it seems.

Strange argument, it's not like he's worked with the engine for several years + he doesn't have any kind of official tools either, they should be able to do this much faster.
"The second part of the clip that got caught off does get into an actual explanation of why they didn’t have a police chase system. Sasko says it was a combination of the technical limitations of the engine, and not enough time to make it work before release, so it was something that they eventually just gave up on"
People do actually use such methods of transport in open world games, where the next car / transportation you can use is only seconds away!?
I really doubt it.
I do, i find such transportation really immersive in these kinds of games, and i do play them (for the most part) for that immersive experience, and not for doing things as convenient as possible.
When i heard it was removed in the original game i knew things were going in the wrong direction.

They gave up on the entire game, its just a shallow construct.
Tbh there are many shallow open world games, many which has either gotten better by time or gone from decent to incredible by mods. I personally see Bethesdas games as kind of empty constructs to begin with, yet they're amongst my favorites games (because mods).
I do understand the need to immerse yourself in that big open world. And the topic (metro) raises mostly subjective views.
I can appreciate a feature like tram / train / metro being in a game. A LOT! By I never choose them over the default way of transportation: horse, car, fast-travel and most immersive one: walking.
Yeah, those extra features can weight a lot, but I still doubt that many people use them, except for RP-ers and those that are VERY much into creating some immersive experience (often for media purposes).
it's the perfect "fast travel" imo, because it's real time and it's a real.. thing, something relatable.
Walking is superior for exploring obviously, for traveling (after areas are already explored), no.

Even if it's true, after reading all that, my first reaction was still 'meh'
Everyone has moved on, by now (or should). They should just let this die and work on the next game, there's nothing to win with these patches, they won't change a game that's flawed by design.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Dunno if it was posted but recently this POS won best narrative so...

Fake leakers usually aren't one for subtleties, so this sounds pretty legit
