in truth you cant blame ubisoft for this, because this is the world we live in today. Internet mobs scouring decade old posts so they can cancel you and mobs forming imediately whenever you dont have coloured folks in everything.
As a non european person I can tell you that when I want to enjoy a story set in ancient or medieval europe, I am just as annoyed as you are if it isn't demographically accurate. I am not annoyed in the least by an all white cast.
I have no idea why twitter even exists but I know powerful entities have armies of bots pretending to be human and influencing public opinion there. I don't care in the slightest about all this fake "inclusive" bullshit. It's also super lazy when it's done with no background on why someone who looks from a far away land is there and a possible lost opportunity for great storywriting.

Let's uh... Rewrite history. There was another group about group 80-90 years ago that tried the same thing. They were immensely successful and popular.. At least for a while. I forget what they were called
A new synopsis, found in the game files : "To the South, the kingdom of Francia has unified under a single king for the first time in a hundred years. Charles the Fat, the great grandson of Charlemagne, now wages a slow war against the Norse in Francia. England could be next. Ravensthorpe must make new allies in Francia to avoid the threat of war. A visitor will arrive at Ravensthorpe's dock to launch the adventure.
The DLC will take place in 885, few years after the events of the game (whick takes place in 877).
If you were expecting the Hidden Ones, you will be disappointed. One of the lines of dialogue from the DLC (spoken by Eivor or a random character) is also present in the game files: "Just as they were in England, the Hidden Ones seem absent in Francia. What treasures could they have left behind ?".
Release of the DLC the 9th November 2021, according to the PlayStation Store (probably a placeholder).
I compared it to older ass creeds and there is something wrong with the lighting in this one, especially indoors, everyone looks like they're made of something else other than skin. it only looks good when you're outside in SOME areas, the water looks downgraded, slightly distant animations are like 3 FPS etc, it's definitely a downgrade. The writing is some safe space kindergarten shit as well which blocks any investment in the story.
A true shame because I think the viking settings is one of the most interesting opportunities for something great but ofc they ubiwasted it. I would much rather prefer a game with a tighter and more curated world than throwing random shit everywhere and calling it more "value"
So reviews are out for new DLC that's coming tomorrow Siege of Paris and it looks like it's pretty much same as WoTD. Probably gonna complete it in couple of hours and ehhe that's it.
In order to continue supporting Assassin's Creed Valhalla with future content and game updates, Title Update 1.4.1 will require players to re-download the entire game as part of a data restructuring.
Timing: This update will occur next week, with more details on the date and patch content coming soon.
The upcoming Title Update consolidates the game files, resulting in a smaller overall game size on all platforms. Additionally, performance should improve with this data restructuring, with faster loading screen times, improved world data streaming, and overall runtime performance.
Note that only the base game needs to be redownloaded. Expansions will not be affected by the restructuring.
The size of Title Update 1.4.1 for each platform can be found below.
Download size from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1:
PC ~78 GB
PS4 ~67 GB
PS5 ~40 GB
X1 ~62 GB
XS ~71 GB

all games are tedious, you do the same shit... it's just down to if you like doing it or if you mostly find it boring.
sure, there's a few games where you probably can say it has tons of options on what to focus on, "you can do what you want". The problem in those games can be that those mechanics aren't as great as in a game that focuses mostly on that particular mechanics.
i get bored from most games these days, i play for 1h then i'm usually done for the day, doesn't really matter what kind of game it is, it can be VR, deep strategy, RPG... The one game that can make me play longer is Rimworld (currently super bored with it though, i'll have to wait that out which can take 6 - 12 months, or i'm just done hehe).
why not enjoy it as a (not) assassins creed experience though? They're ok as stand alone games. Valhalla really did take the piss out of the modern day stuff i agree. Its OK for me as it died with Desmond.
Are there still the tEmPlAr and kNiGhTs nonsense in these newer games? Why do they even bother with that aNiMuS crap? Just put a historical/fantasy game with the same boring Ubi garbage mechanics and that's it.
It's still there to a degree, but feels more shoehorned in at this point. Some silly reasons to become assassin and get some really advanced weaponry for the time. It's just there to be there.

The simulation of a simulation aspect completely ruins immersion for me, so not really
