This is the first disk cache application that is actually working well (very well in fact). Unfortunately I haven't found a version of it and I'll have to shell out $30 for a single use license. :/

It's quite sophisticated and you can use either/both RAM and SSD space as cache space.

My example use: I have Forza Horizon 5 installed on D:, a 1TB Seagate HDD (~100-110MB/second with the usual hiccups) and it takes what feels like an eternity to load and each event takes a long time to load as well.

I set PrimoCache to use 6GB of RAM (Level 1 cache, it's the space used for the most read files) and a 20GB partition on my Samsung 840 EVO as the Level 2 cache. PrimoCache keeps the most used reads in the cache, prioritizing the most used data in the RAM cache which is the most important files and data in FH5. It's making an amazing difference and loading time from double-click to in-game is cut in more than half. Same goes for fast travel across the map, entering events.

The first time I start the game after initialising the cache it will obviously not be faster than normal until you've filled enough of the cache with a lot of data. The second and third time I loaded the game I noticed some serious improvement in loading times. I get a really high cache hit rate as well which means a LOT of the data is read from the cache (the combine L1 RAM and L2 SSD cache). Shutting down/resetting the PC will flush the RAM cache to the SSD and upon boot reload it back into RAM. As time pass the cache will become more optimized as PrimoCache replace less used data with more frequent data.

But again, I wish I could

4.1 server edition has yarr version. I'll check this app out when I have some time. I'm always wondering a bit how well this behaves when machine crashes, what happens with writes? I assume the data gets lost/corrupted.

I'd recommend Primocache to anyone looking to speedup their notebook, PC or workstation in general. It takes some tweaking but once settled down you could see, experience and even benchmark the differences.

Your software fixed the bottleneck in my mother's PC that I had been attempting to fix for a long time. PrimoCache software worked like magic and her PC finally operated at a speed I could be satisfied with.

You can choose if you want to do deferred writes or not which should answer that question. Can't find that one...

Ah, alright, I'll check it out some time, might be helpful to speed up some operations on my server (has 64GB RAM and I only use ~40GB of it).
