EVGA sent out an email recently that they were changing their queue system to only count the oldest 2 queued cards to be active so you were supposed to update your queue to only the 2 cards you really wanted. I wonder if that was some of that insider knowledge as they knew they would be getting even less cards this winter.
Someone was just talking about getting a card from their queue in another forum and it reminded me about that EVGA email so I am a bit disappointed though as I forgot to update my queue so I just checked and my oldest 2 cards on queue are ones I do not even think EVGA makes anymore as they were the hybrid 3080 cards and there is now no way to change them or add new stuff to the queue. Luckily I got my card already but I was hoping to help out a few friends as those were all queued back in February.

Why is this shit so fucking expensive even for old as fuck cards?
I bought my RX580 for like 100€ like 2 years ago, and if I want a meaningful upgrade for my GPU right now I prolly have to pay atleast 300-400€ for a card that was released like 2-3 years ago.
Any hot tips/tricks/cards to look at? I mean it's not even worth upgradding for 10-20% performance, prolly still have to pay like 200€ just for that.

Because of GPU shortage. Too many buyers and very few cards available.

Yeah it's kinda sad, like the cards in the 200-300€ range are not even upgrades 
For 300€ you can get something like 1070/980ti for maybe some % performance increase but nothing worth meantioning really. 1080s are 400+ easily already, I never paid that much even for a new card  |
~500€ price range barely exists at the moment. You either have to pick years old second card with barely any warranty left, or your have to spend near 700€ to get a new 'entry level' one.

are u joking ? i had three new gpus and one second hand die in less then 4 years and i dont OC nor run the latest games ...
why do u think there is such a shortage , if they never died there should still be plenty of budget cards around being sold by miners who upgraded
ati rx480 470 n stuff like that but they are nowhere to be found
repair shops on youtube who post repair videos ar flooded with ded high end cards aswel, if anything they are dieing much much faster then they ever did this decade then decade before

How? Why?
I mean I have always pushed my cards to the limits and then some but never had issues with them.
I mean my 290X is still running in friends PC, it was modded bios for extra voltage etc.
But I never had any NVidia GPUs for like 10+ years so don't have any experience on those but zero issues with AMD.

even retrofitting my old 6700 back in the days with a new cooler drilling holes into the pcb and OC'ing the fuck out of it , i've never had any gpu fail on me either

My experience is also that GPUs last at least for until you throw the whole case in the trash.
Maybe once I had a card that started showing artifacts after 2 or so years, and I think that was a Radeon 9800 from 15 years ago, and since then all the cards I had were great.

Personally I find 300W to be my limit on air. And thats already alot of power to cool off and I use undervolting and frame limiters to stay below.
I can't believe they don't have other performance enhancements than just doubling the power input.
