Aha, because i googled it before i purchased it and found someone saying (reddit) the Quest 2 is OLED (someone else asked).. No replies correcting him either lol. I tried to find specs for the screen on other places but didn't find them.
Then i understand it doesn't have such deep blacks, but it's not too bad.
Ok, installed Virtual Desktop to be able to stream VR games, didn't tweak anything yet (my router, resolution etc). Everything is running wonderfully (No Mans Sky). No artifacts at all, no aliasing, no latency that i can detect in any way. Looks exactly as on my LCD monitor.
I can sit on my balcony (though not now, too cold) or in my sofa in the living room or on the toilet (lol). It's brilliant edit: fuck, they need to do a waterproof one, i want to game from the bath tub, that'd be amazing

has anyone tried playing yarrrr'ed games on Quest 2, is it even possible? I mean streamed VR games.
Of course.
You either download scene releases. (search vrex)
Or you can download a bunch of PC oculus store exclusive rips from a certain site.
What you need to do is start oculus link application in quest. Enter desktop mode, double "click" on the game icon (or of course exe) and it will detect your "headset automatically".
So yeah, easy as pie. Just make sure the game is cracked. "Entitlement check failed"=game is not cracked, you downloaded an "original copy".

Dunno if you know or not but DONT expose it to sunlight! even seconds can cause burn ins.
(Lenses focus sunrays so it will burn the LCD)
Seems to work great indeed also thanks for the heads-up about sunlight, didnt know that..
Played some Alyx, just wow... having a blast overall with this, super impressed with the streaming, I was honestly a bit worried that part wouldn't be to my standards, artifacts or noticeable lag - nothing.. The on-board graphics like with Resident Evil 4 isn't bad either.
Sure, it also helps i've been mainly (to 90%) playing Rimworld (super simplistic looking) for the last years and almost weaned off 3D graphics completely hehe
I've played lambada HL on Quest and it's really good. Not sure if this is it vurt.
Be sure to check out Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Doom 3 natively on the Quest it's amazing.
lot of talk about "metaverse" which i guess is a futuristic facebook with the new complex avatars - which looks uncanny human like.
...it's actually a lot of WTF moments. first part was boring but this is kind of cool, if they manage to do it. "not available in the next year or two"

Are you people installing pirate apk packs to the quest? any issues? when you try to install via sideloader you get the warning about harmful content, possible ban etc.. not sure if it's worth messing with?

As long as it's nothing you play online, what are they gonna do? Sideloading apk even on phones comes with warnings. And rightfully so, there can be anything inside them.
Trying to pirate a game once on my phone and got some nasty ad-app instead. It also had no app icon so it was kinda hard to find.

yeah i guess but you never know if they scan the installed aps and notices something is pirated and ban you, seems like they're not doing it currently at least..

Just my opinion but I wouldn't risk installing pirated native quest 2 games. There are only really a few of them which is exclusive to Quest 2 (Resi 4, Star wars galaxies).
The "ban" standpoint from Facebook/oculus could always change.
Bought a WIFI 6 router to see if streaming got any better (lower latency), but no, with the performance window in Virtual Desktop visible i checked two different games and used the same Savegame. There was 0 ms difference for everything. Obviously i made sure the WIFI6 connection was used (1200 mbps in Virtual Desktop).
The numerous guides who claims WIFI 6 does wonders for Quest 2 - all BS from my experience. Bought a really good WIFI 6 router which has 8/10 or better in several reviews.
Does anyone know how to connect directly via VD to the headset though? Because i noticed it actually connects to the internet first to then stream to the headset - if you disconnect internet streaming won't work at all, it won't find the computer. There must be a way to stream directly from the PC to the headset, but i have no idea how to set that up and getting VD to find my Local PC.
Edit: i got a reply from someone, it shouldn't add latency, it's just some handshake operation.
