It uninstalls Backup & Sync and you cannot re-install it.
Once you've uninstalled Backup & Sync, even if you also uninstalled Google Drive for Desktop and run an old installer from 2019 of Backup & Sync ... the installer says "Backup & Sync" is not available anymore and leaves you with two options: 1) cancel 2) uninstall Backup & Sync (What?? I'm trying to install it...).
Anyhow I fell for the trap and I'm warning you to never, ever run Google Drive for Desktop on your computer.
I will also cancel my +100Gb subsription for 20€ per year, since it's kinda rendered obsolete if I can't use the desktop app for bigger files anymore. What's the purpose, really? The Web-only interface is trash (ZIPs multiple files and such bullshit).
The new Google Drive for Desktop app also installs some fake driver that makes a "G:\" drive appear on your Desktop.
When you look inside the "G:\" drive, what do you think you'll find?
"well I guess I'll find the content of my Google Drive, no?"
WRONG!!!
You'll find ONE shortcut ... to your Google Drive folder.
Literal ... utter ... trash.
