Gamepass version also didn't let me switch to DX11 there is a toggle in the menu but it does nothing still runs in dx12 according to my rtss overlay oh and performance sucks in DX12 so i switched to steam yarr version.
As for the game itself it's ok looks very pretty but the gameplay loop will probably get repetitive fast if you don't play it in coop. It's certainly no wonder reviews seem to be so divisive. Story can be safely ignored it's there that's the best thing i can say about it.

Which is a shame because the game is way better in coop, i played 3 hours yesterday and had a blast then solo for half an hour and turned it off was just not very fun compared to coop.
Tbh i was actually expecting something more diablo like which would have been great solo but the loot so far is extremely underwhelming.

2 things wrong with this. The loot is a confusing. And it WANTS you to explore, but at the same time it DOESNT want you to explore. Everywhere you go it tempts you with other directions for lootwhores and OCD completionist, but 5/10 it's gonna be some 10 level higher enemies one-shotting your butt.

Loot is definitely not worth exploring for you end up vendoring pretty everything anyway and it's very basic in general.
I know previews made this game seem like cyberpunk diablo but it's just an ok twin stick shooter with some minor rpg elements, it's definitely fun for a while and looks great and that's about it.
I wonder how DF got to play it so stutter free only with dx12 avaiable, they say so in the video, there is no way the game wasnt a stutter mess for them, maybe they played the sections twice and cached the shaders and than recorded..

Stutter free here with dx12 full ray tracing with a rtx 2070 super.
The game has an absolutely superb art direction with remarkable visuals, the shooting itself is meaty, and..that's pretty much about it for me. I was hoping to find something special in a genre that isn't exactly one of my favourites, but this feels too shallow and repetitive for its own good, with the lowbrow writing that doesn't really help either. The performance is rather shaky here as well (as expected), though nothing particularly serious besides some framerate drops when things get hectic.
This is an action RPG done right. Just focus on fun and forget about the grinding. I hate those play the same game 3 times but that's not the actual game cause endgame and then fight bulletsponges that need some OP build you have to google to succeed.
Great level design btw.

Poor interface though.
True shooting stuff is just damn fun in this game it's my favorite coop game atm i just wish coop was not this buggy and there was some progression for the other players (it's only for the host atm).
Even on dx11 this game stutters everytime its caching new shaders, feels like im playing this game on yuzu for the first time.
lol this so much. I was almost tempted to google "The Ascent shader cache download"
Installed on a SN850 no less!
Note that if you are playing the gamepass version then there is no DX11 mode and you are stuck in DX12. The menu option to change api doesn't actually do anything and the game is still running in DX12 which has awful stuttering and worse performance in general, you can easily confirm this with RTSS.
The gamepass version doesn't have working DLSS or ray tracing either (same deal as api the menu options do nothing at all) and there is also no difficulty slider like in the steam version. This is mostly because the gamepass version is an older build atm.
I noticed zero difference in dx11 and 12. Runs smooth. Explosions do give a stutter sometimes so that needs some optimalisation. Tuning effects quality down fixed it.
No game is perfect at release, no big deal here.
