really looks rough.. but that's kind of the piranha bytes trademark
haven't played elex1 yet... is this worth picking up nowadays (meaning have the most annoying things been fixed)?

like always they never really released any substantial patches for it.. if there's one thing i don't like about PB it has always been that, they're just as bad as Bethesda but unfortunately community patches are way harder to do for their games.
It's still a great game, one of the best RPG's in the recent 20 years i would say.

Elex was alot more polished than G3. I played through it shortly after release and don't remember any significant issues.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Looks great, i hope it's nearly done. The world looks cool like the first game, and the combat and flying looks fun, the only thing that looks different is how close the camera is... I think it was less in previous game, but not all scenes are like that it seems..

I believe summer next year.
"The current year is probably the optimistic release date, which could work out with a lot of luck. Alternatively, you will have to wait until spring or summer 2022."

I'd rather they took their time and tune everything up properly, especially with the Iron Man-esque mechanics that need to be implemented wisely. Releasing an earlyaccessian beast would certainly do more harm than good, many people were realistically expecting a 2022 release anyway. The first Elex was surprisingly polished (by Piranha's standards, that is ), so the hope is that the sequel can provide the same experience.
Edit: there's some Q&A as well: https://wccftech.com/elex-ii-qa-much-more-responsive-combat-deeper-romances-and-more/

Quote: | Piranha Bytes: True flying is the new feature everyone will notice, as well as aerial combat. Something that’s not jumping straight into your eyes is the increased density of content throughout the world. Although the game world did not grow compared to ELEX, there is much more to do in ELEX II. And the third most important change was the overhaul of the combat system. The players have more direct control, it’s up to the players to decide how long they raise a sword or a club to intensify an attack – the longer you hold, the harder you hit. That makes it much more dynamic than before. We’ve also overhauled the AI of your enemies and also redone all animations. |
While that's something we can't know for sure that is true at this time, I do believe them and it's one core design idea at Piranha that shows why their games are so much more engaging, even at their worst, than the competition's. At least for me that is... It's the opposite of what everyone else has been doing with open world games for years and the right way to go about it.

Great, can't wait to run away from 90% of enemies in the first 10 hours of the game to do crappy quests, while enjoying the wonky animations, clunky controls and horrendous voice acting.

You don't need to.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. ah damn, i was hoping a few of those shots in the trailer were in-game because of the rather poor animations and a bit poor frame rate, guess not lol...

Scheiße animationen.
Should we call these guys and tell them about the wondrous invention called 'motion capture'?

Looks very good tbh. A shame they don't do a more traditional fantasy game though. One Elex was enough as a quirky scifi title.

I do hope this is just an alpha look due to a new lighting engine or something, because some models right now look at best at Risen 1/Gothic 3 quality. Especially the meth abusing hydrocephalic Caja.
Other than that it's nice they ditched the single colour UI, and the UI itself looks much better. I hope it gets released this year, apparently it's feature complete already, but I can wait until 2022 if it means it gets polished a bit more.
