What are you formatting? Your internal 300Gb? Or an external 1TB for use with Rogero? Either way, sounds excessive.

Can you abort it and just choose "Quick Format"? I guess not. Googling, it seems that's not unusual, I just don't recall mine taking several days when I installed a new 750Gb on it, so there must be a quick fomart option.

Yah, I went with the full over the quick, because mine seems messed up somehow.. wanted to make sure it was all cleared out all the way. ;p
Oh well, maybe it'll be done when I wake up.

I remember when I upgraded my Hard Drive. It took about 8hrs just to transfer the backup content over.
One thing is for sure, don't let it know your in a hurry.

just a friendly warning, don't use format if you are on Rogero 4.30, it has a chance to brick some consoles, especially those that store some of fw data on hdd (slims and newer fats).

Phew, guess it didn't brick mine, it's an original 60gb launch model...
Although, even with the full wipe, it's still automatically down by 30GB... bastards. Does it take a % or soemthing for itself? I thought it only took like a flat 6GB..

My word, I forgot how painful trying to play games on the PS3 is. Wanted a "quick look" at LBP2 last night - 45 minutes later I could actually play! First off, 18 updates which took forever... Then it decided to install essential files or something, another 10 minutes or so, then finally it decided to do some configuration tuning as well. Fuckin ell!!!

You think losing 30GB is bad? Try installing 1TB drive and watching your space drop by 90GB+ My TB has 931GB usable.. and the PS3 would take 93GB of that for cache/system usage. |
Ah, damn! Well, at least it seems like it's functionally sound. ;p

Any particular reason you haven't updated to 4.30?

Ah I see.. which kind of tweaks do people use/appreciate mostly? I've never run into anything lacking that I wanted to do with PS3 (play games), curious to what people like to tweak?

i like my cfw as clean as possible because it reduces possibility of bugs and other problems. i can understand people not wanting to upgrade to current 4.30 cfw as it's hacked together version using shady files from other CFWs. i really hope a much better cfw offering will be out soon.

You are right, with lv0 keys we can get lv1 and lv2 keys. But Sony was tricky this time and encrypted lv1 and lv2 keys in lv0 so they are hard to get. For this you need another exploit to unobfuscate them, like the appldr keys.
So far, all keys we have gotten are because of leaks (except lv0 where the tutorial has been posted by JuanNadie) which is why nobody knows how to get lv1 and lv2 keys and they are so magic.
But in fact you answered yourself : basically you can get them with lv0, now it's up to you to get lv1 & lv2, that's the easiest part
They are needed to make a CFW, because lv1ldr and lv2Ldr are part of the chain of trust. Else they are useless. Lv1 keys are needed to get the appldr keys though. So yeah, these keys are needed in the next FW if they change them (most likely) to not only make a new CFW but also decrypt new games (since without lv1 keys, not app keys !).
I think that's where Sony will play now, stall stuff a little obfuscating keys...

Hey Sabin, Is the playing of burned discs in Rebug only for PS1 games, or does it work with PS2 and PS3? Just curious.
