I am getting old, sonny.
I've no time or interest anymore to ask myself if people cleanse their water from zombie infestations in videogames.
If this was a hardcore survival game, well... maybe.

It's not that bad, you can do a lot worse when it comes to open world games (Death Stranding or ass creed valhalla for example just failed to hold my attention).

Immersion is not exclusive to hardcover survival games, is it? |
Well... yes and no.
But mostly yes. Since the hardcore survival concept goes hand in hand with the player being involved as MUCH as possible with the virtual alternate reality (drink water, pee, eat(,) shit, etc.). You can't trigger emotional responses from the player if you are not convincing him to transpose himself in your world. And you do that with 'factors' of realism.
Some reality simulation factors are perceivable and involve the player through direct or indirect participation and others are insignificant with very low to no value in involvement. Like how people are cleaning their water in a zombie apocalypse, in a game where water has no role whatsoever.
*cough*
Immersion is a relative state that can be induced via way too many different factors.
You can perceive immersion via:
• control
• environment / graphics / visuals (life-like, photo-realistic)
• quality of life features (body awareness, self-shadow, FOV, camera bob)
• gameplay mechanics (Metro Exodus - opening your backpack)
• details in the game world (GTAV - heated motors)
• some other shit that excites players

imo immersion/enjoyment is a tricky balance. Especially for people with shit to do. Micromanaging every minute aspect is just a chore (your character needs to breath, keep pressing F, You need to take a shit, find a bush and hold E), These things do not add to the game, you can use your imagination and pretend your character did all that off screen and save yourself countless hours of doing boring WORK instead of what gaming is supposed to provide: Fantasy cool stuff that you dont do irl, especially if you're fresh off work and just want to enjoy a game.
Immersion shouldn't necessarily come at the cost of reasonable convenience. I often use FLiNG trainers in some of these open world games to turn off game mechanics that in my view don't add anything of value and are there just to pad gameplay time for analytics. I can just pretend I wasted countless hours on did and save myself some time and get to the good stuff.

TBH I could have done without the need (and worry) to have my bike fueled at all times. I would have explored more. And relax more. Instead I worry all the time. Like in real life, you worry all the time. Nice immersion, thanks.

Nah, using trainers removes any feeling of accomplishment. I'd rather not play the game at all. Or better yet, get used to it.

So far I haven't had to use it in this game but for me it is a must for most recent ubi titles as M$ fuck too much with the gameplay in their open world games. Which is why I said this is a ubiesque title but done far better than ubisoft

I wanted to use the FLiNG trainer so I don't run out of gas and my melee weapons don't degrade but Malwarebytes flags it as unsafe when I scan it and AVG just auto deletes it. Can anyone confirm that these FLiNG trainers are safe to use?

I've never had an issue with them but I've been using the WeMod app for trainers for over a year now since it's just easier to just stick with the Mr. Antifun website trainer stuff. And it does work with the ISOdemo after you start the game and Alt-Tab out to run the trainer.

this turd is considerably worse than what ubisoft does in pretty much every facet of its design. The missions, the world layout, the inbetween busywork. Its a pretty awful game

If we called every game that didn't pull a half life a turd this industry would be dead. Mechanically it's nothing special but credit is due in graphics and decent enough fun. The world is smaller but more handcrafted which I prefer to having space for the sake of space and assets thrown randomly inbetween which ubi does a lot.
Also no Microtransactions affecting gameplay makes this far better than ubi games in my book. Also Graphically superior on PC.

Its not about a game that didnt pull a half life. This is simply an extremely boring game full of fluf and everything that it does, it does pretty much worse than anywhere else in recent memory. Its quite the deffinition of a turd. I struggle to name a game with worse designed and more boring missions. The world besides being boring and uninteresting, its only purpose is to send you back and forth, to pad everything. Its a pretty horrible game

This and Ghost of Tsushima I found way more enjoyable than any ubi open world I tried in the last 10 years (-edit- I found it's actually more like 7 years. I did enjoy black flag. Thought it was older lol)

'Reasonable' is relative. 'Convenience' is relative. 'Immersion' is relative.
There are people that are 'immersed' when perform petty activities like wiping their ass in videogames, despite the time they have on hand to enjoy their hobbies.

Damn cheater. I hope you don't do this is MP games...
I understand the 'frustration' regarding the motorbike fueling for SOME people. But - FOR ME - it adds another dimension to the experience. It's like a minigame by itself. I estimate distances, plan courses and use fast travel with fuel in mind. It's like a simple but engaging and (whoa!) immersive little math game.
See how different we are?
See? SEEEEEE?!?!

Totally incorrect qqq. Endtimes zombie open world games are nice and the story is nice too. Bikers, surviving, dubious experiments, finding out how it came to the zombiesituation and ofc finding a babe. Classic but good.
Also more surviving aspect than most open world games where its about collecting and shooting without thinking about anything.

^ Absolutely. I see your point.
It's hard to enjoy Left 4 Dead when you have already beaten Plants vs. Zombies...

I have a tendency to accidentally stumble upon swarms at night, spook em then run frantically back to my bike only to find it low on gas and improvise. Those moments are what makes this game special, I get and enjoy that.

Great game, planning to play it again on PS5 for sure now that it's 60fps.
I have some things i less liked, needing to fuel sometimes make you less exploring, honestly can't see anything positive it adding to the experience.
Now i also didn't like the melee weapons durability, but that i can understand in some way, so you won't go and use only the melee weapon and it does add some kind of tension that you need to collect parts to fix your weapon, still not sure if i rather have this or not.
But as you progress and upgrade Deacon and the bike those things become minor.
Other then that.. i love everything about this game, combat is great, world and characters are awesome, will be more then glad to see Days Gone 2.

Yeah can't understand this decision, i remember it sold quite good on PS4, really wanted a sequel especially after the secondary ending, still hope for a sequel.
