Haven't started playing the game yet but from what I have seen it looks like something for me, though I do understand that it's repetitive.

So anything to mitigate the repetitiveness? Perhaps a certain difficulty setting? Or is it the same on any level or mode?

Just don't play on easy or normal. Hard I at least. Should make the game more interesting.

I'll most likely head straight to the Survival difficulty which disables the mini-map/part of the HUD, fast-travel and raises the default challenge - typically my standard way to approach open-world games (I struggle to get fully immersed otherwise Razz), hoping that the experience won't turn too much into a classic Ubichore because of the artificial designs. I'm curious to see what the fuss is all about, though first I need to finish the games that I started in the past few weeks.

^ For the love of Toto Cutugno... don't turn off fasto travelo! That masochistico level of playing is way too pericoloso, even for Ricchi e Poveri fans!

I do agree that the human AI is braindead and that the open world design is generic and rather boring. I'm not going to bother with all the filler quests and only play the main storyline.
I'm also glad there is no microstutter at all which was quite present in all the gameplay videos. The game runs super smooth in 1440p all maxed out with a 2070 super and 3700x. The CPU is barely under load, which makes sense for a PS4 game that needs to run on a weak CPU.

what precisely is it that it does better ? Im strugling to stay awake playing. I think not only that it doesnt do a single damn thing better, its almost an example on what not do to with a game. Its all crushingly boring and stretched out and annoying

The zombies are cool, but everything is pretty generic and as repetitive as it can get. You can see at every step how much they cheaped out. The bike combat is horrible and for some reason, everybody has cars in but nobody drives them. Most faces outside cutscenes are horrible. The UI is so bad and not very functional in certain situations Etc... However, none of these stop them from asking 50 euro 3 years later.

I'm not that far into the game where it becomes a checklist simulator, but the world and lighting is more grounded in reality, locations make sense, shooting isn't too bad even if the AI can be brain dead it still gives the illusion that these are people.

as far as I'm concerned this is a game where you zone out and explore/shoot before going to sleep so maybe it's doing its job just fine for you too Laughing

I mean. Game is pretty good in terms of performance.. Haven't experienced majors bugs only except mentioned in DF Article during biking.

Running 1440p at 144hz at OC 3090, with no dips at all.

This is so good compared to HZD.

Damn good game. Open world zombie soldier atmosphere with a biker brutality story. Could be worse Smile
And to make it less boring/repetitive its important to use the survival difficulty. Really gotta look for ammo and plan your approach.
Unless you find a lot more ammo and still need less in lower difficulties then it might even be less repetitive like that.

to make it less boring and repetitive you have to enhance the most boring and repetitive aspects of the game ?

Exactly. In other games you just loot NONSTOP to grind stuff and buy some shit. Here you need to loot to survive while surrounded by zombies. Its a better loot feeling than in other open world games where its cosmetic or useless overall. You need ammo and medicine badly and your bike is also precious.

Does the Riddick patch work with the original FLT rls?

lol wut

The looting system is generic if not terrible, like in your typical Ubisoft game. It's probably worst because the variation here is non-existent. The survival mechanics got old for me in about an hour and from there much of the gameplay felt like a chore.

The missions' design is not much different. You are forced to go through a bunch of "Finding NERO" missions that play exactly the same. They didn't put much effort into them and as a result, most of the time you are doing the same thing. It's not different than Mafia 3 in this regard (which was heavily criticized) with the exception that Mafia 3 had a few really cool missions. Here I'm yet to find one that breaks the mold.

The world has some serious logic problems. The camps here are rather idiotic. People outnumber the buildings by a big margin. The tents don't cover people's goods. Everyone has a camp around water for obvious reasons yet nobody seems to give a damn about keeping the water clean (How do they stop the zombies or where are they going to the toilet so they don't contaminate the water?) The cars are just cosmetic and for some reasons the hordes avoid these rather defenseless camps.

It's the simplicity in everything that makes the Days Gone repetitive. It's packed nicely but as soon as you torn through the wrapping, a horde of problems start pouring in.

Now you're just bashing the game for the sake of bashing it, looking for accuracy in areas where nearly any other game would come short as well but somehow you expect it here

It's an observation and not every game comes short in this area. The Division 2 does a better job than this game at this for example.

I don't think that's nitpicking.

I think it's fucking finicky, ultra bashing, overcritical and mega captious.

Has this game insulted your mother, or something?! WHAT has this game done to you, man?!

It's surprising to me that you jump in the defense of this close to mediocre Ubisoft-like game when you act like an elitist about so many other games. Laughing

Immersion is not only powered by graphics... But if you are so upset about this one complaint ignore it and check all the other. I didn't even say everything I had to say.
