or better AI...

the answer: it's all used up for graphics instead. it seems like it will never change. it even seems like it has gotten worse, almost to the degree that AI is turned off, just the basics running so you can push graphics to the maxxx.

at least there's the indie scene where at least a few thinks differently about it.

nobody is hiring game ai devs, ... its all machine learning blabla with better paycheques AND nobody has fun when an ai beats them too hard so game ai will never be machine learning Sad

just ask the poker, starcraft and chess pros who got there asses handed to them Very Happy

are there even ai's in games anymore? i have a feeling it's just scripts doing their thing, they do a bit of tracking. i wouldnt call it ai.

basicly aimbots with rng and scripts i guess yep, whens last time u ever saw a position for game ai at any company ... last one i heard was total war, and they keep firing that dude every year lol Very Happy

Last game with good and above all FAIR AI was the original F.E.A.R. They never cheated, actually flanked, used suppressive fire, etc. It's all just been falling backwards ever since.
