What's wrong with the ones they already have? Or are you waiting for some lossy compressed ones that aren't 100+gb?

Almost every new release I see now supports 4k, guess the time for TV upgrade has come.

I can't watch Dolby Vision HDR releases on pc correct?
I have lg oled and use mpc-hc with madvr. Normally it switches to hdr and it all looks correct. But DV movies do nothing and have purple hue.
I am specifically talking about Fellowship of the ring. I've found 2 versions. One is just 4k HDR and looks ok. Other is DV... but the movies is released in DV only right? So someone had to convert it ?

no it wont work bc license shenanigans.
i use a Chromecast w Google TV and installed Kodi on it. Works pretty well and DV really looks spectacular on LG OLED

The UHD discs have DV. That means the movies have two video tracks. The base layer track (HDR10 only) and an enhancement layer track (DV layer). That means you can make remuxes that have DV with MakeMKV or you can make them without the enhancement layer. It doesn't necessarily mean that a conversion happened.
When creating a .mkv from the original files, one can choose whether to preserve the DV layer or discard it. When you play a file with DV included and your tv does not support it, it should automatically drop down to viewing in just HDR10 and the DV layer is ignored.
Also worth noting, just because the tv supports DV doesn't mean it has the ability to play it in a mkv container. Lots of variables have to be right for everything to work.

gratz man !!! I got the 48" c1 month ago. Watching all 4k hdr stuff!
Get madvr on pc if Youj want to play hdr movies in media player classic.
Experiment with HGIG vs Dynmic Tone Mapping in in brightness settings int he tv.
As for audio - I found that disabling all ai, atmos and other stuff, enabling CINEMA audio preset and tuning bass boos (in the ai menu) yielded best results but 65" probably got more ooomhp in speakers
