It annoys me quite a bit when "influencers" get early access to single player games
Getting early access (essentially) to a league which is essentially a race is even worse
what an asshole move. would have expected that from blizzard, not GGG, but I guess GGG isn't what it once was too.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
100 streamers in a queue of thousands make zero difference, get off ur high horse, its smart marketing and u know it , but maybe those who also spent money on the game also should have gotten higher queue priority, that was a big mistake
It wasnt just streamers but also their friends that they play with. they did manage to get everything running now and people will soon forget about the issues.
Amid all this, Grinding Gear Games allowed streamers to bypass the slow queue, enraging the wider Path of Exile community.
Wilson offered an explanation for this, revealing the developer had paid some streamers to play Ultimatum for a couple of hours at launch, and if they had not been able to play due to server issues, "This was about as close as you could get to literally setting a big pile of money on fire."
"The backstory is that we have recently been doing some proper paid influencer marketing, and that involves arranging for big streamers to showcase Path of Exile to their audiences, for money (they have #ad in their titles)," Wilson explained.
"We had arranged to pay for two hours of streaming, and we ran right into a login queue that would take two hours to clear. This was about as close as you could get to literally setting a big pile of money on fire. So we made the hasty decision to allow those streamers to bypass the queue. Most streamers did not ask for this, and should not be held to blame for what happened. We also allowed some other streamers who weren't involved in the campaign to skip the queue too so that they weren't on the back foot."
Wilson admitted this move was a "mistake".
"The decision to allow any streamers to bypass the queue was clearly a mistake," he said.
"Instead of offering viewers something to watch while they waited, it offended all of our players who were eager to get into the game and weren't able to, while instead having to watch others enjoy that freedom. It's completely understandable that many players were unhappy about this. We tell people that Path of Exile league starts are a fair playing field for everyone, and we need to actually make sure that is the reality.
"We will not allow streamers to bypass the login queue in the future. We will instead make sure the queue works much better so that it's a fast process for everyone and is always a fair playing field. We will also plan future marketing campaigns with contingencies in mind to better handle this kind of situation in the future.
"It's completely understandable that many players are unhappy with how today has gone on several fronts. This post has no intention of trying to convince you to be happy with these outcomes. We simply want to provide you some insight about what happened, why it happened and what we're doing about it in the future. We're very unhappy with it too."

who are u kidding, all these articles after the new league launch are EXTRA free publicity , a prewritten apoligy , a "mistake" they will make again in poe2 and next leagues, mark my words, streamers will again have priority, the benefits are way to lucrative
heck i didnt even knew a new league launched, untill the problems articles came out, and made me patch n play, on websites that dont normally cover poe leagues ...
I don't know if they dominate it, I don't care, but they have lots of currency every league, very early in the league. I don't think it makes a difference, at least not for me. Overall it's just a videogame, people need to chill and stopp the QQ. So many tears on reddit

It's fine if you're running some boring league starter that requires no special uniques. Streamer dominated market is horrible if you've got a more complex build planned that requires multiple items.

Yup, a build is only amazing if it uses a headhunter on day 2.
its not like it matters, the efficient play is to blow the screen up, no time for "feelings"
but no adventure mode kills it for me, i cant stand these act 1 and 2 anymore, just give me a never ending dungeon like diablo 1 delving deeper or something, not this stupid campaign over and over

new league mechanic looks time consuming, but could be fun.
Waiting for balance manifesto and patch notes before even trying to get an opinion on the nerfs, changes etc. but one thing I can't get my head around is that they are and I quote

making the enemies in Path of Exile's first act much more dangerous.
That will be one hell of an expierience for new players. Would like to hear some opinions from people who tried PoE out recently and how they managed Act1.

Interested to see the imo required changes, at the moment monsters are just fodder for items and XP, they present no challenge through the campaign.
Campaign bosses don't have one-shot mechanics and you can make it trivial by speccing in and out of certain passives and/or skills if your build is weak in early game. Some of the end-game bosses (I play SSF hardcore and don't copy OP build guides) and haven't encountered them all. I've died countless times needing google to understand what happened and why, so I can pass that content next game which is bad game design, I still love the game and run a few characters every couple of leagues/patches but well aware of the shortcomings.
GGG will just introduce a boss or miniboss with completely new barely mechanics and no communication, like one miniboss If cursed, one shots the entire screen, your never warned or see this mechanic used until you lose your character. Things like this can be communicated through fodder minions using the same spell graphics, rather than just surprising you with bullshit deaths.
I'll paste the post I made on Reddit as it sums up my general opinion of slowing down the game:
Slowing the game down is fine, and I'd even say great for the game in the long term, but it needs to be combined with other elements.
In my opinion:
Buff character defences and survivability. A lot of the current one hit kill, on death effects and fragility stuff was put in as a counter to zoom zoom builds. It always affected those builds the least anyway.
Improve rewards/drops. If the gameplay is slower then rewards need to be adjusted. Less, but better drops. Otherwise you're even more screwed if you can only play a couple of hours.
Rebalance of content in general. A lot of fights are damn miserable with low DPS, filled with harsh soft "enrage" timers (i.e. Shaper and Maven void zones). If GGG wants to generally slow things down, they need to make the game less painful to play with low DPS.
Ultimately they need to take an overall view to slowing the game down, and not just nerf DPS. Nerfing DPS without making other changes just reinforces meta builds and just makes a lot of the current gameplay mechanics more painful.
I'm skipping this league because, as mentioned, I'm not against slowing the gameplay down, but from what they've announced they haven't considered the bigger picture.
I think it'll take quite a while for them to get this right.
At this point I might just wait for POE2 considering it isn't that far off at this point. I was playing way too much POE anyway.
Yes Chris claimed ultimatum was "too rewarding". I don't think he's actually played the game properly for a very long time. Much of what he says is heavily divorced from the game itself.
