I was wondering what are the SPECIFIC differences between DVD+R and DVD-R discs.

If someone knows, please enumerate them to me. Thanks

I think it's something to do with the number of physical sectors each one haves.

DVD-R is the real DVD recordable unit

DVD+R is just a format that came in later

biggest difference is the slightly larger size of the -R ... occasionally you'll find a release that won't fit on a +R.

I've heard -R has a little bit better compatibility, but with most newer dvd players, I don't think it makes a difference.

I would just Stick with -R.... Slightly more space and works in everything that play / read DVDs Smile... Eg Older PS2's (like V4) cant Read +R, only -R Smile

-R writes like a cd-rom in tracks
+R writes in sectors like a hard drive

The +R is generally considerd the better one for movies when it comes to image quality and stuff!

ollax is right +R is the better disc...They also offer better read compatibility between drives which is the main reason i only use +R..
