One isn't gonna die if they don't get their hands on the latest and greatest at release date. The miners are gonna go away when etherium settles down and the scalpers need to sit on those GPU's until they gather dust and return to more reasonable prices.

They will go away until we have yet another coin to mine.

It's not just GPU's that have crazy prices now, everything is spiralling upwards in cost, which is to be expected, when the economy is fucked
Washing machines have tripled in price here now, for example, and my local butcher steak pie is now £7.45, when it used to be £3.99, only 2 months ago. It's across the board I'm afraid.
Prices here are quite stable. Only specific electronics have gone up due to supply chain shortages. My groceries bill has stayed the same. But I expect higher prices too. Inflation is incoming.

Btw the above system for 1600€ is actually fairly decent for the price. Don't know about Lenuvo quality when it comes to their custom mothers boards etc.
Anyway, mining becomes less and profitable, so we should soon see the first panick sales of people who bought GPUs way over msrp and now start they realise they maybe won't make it back

Yeah, prices here are pretty stable. Most vegetables have become a bit cheaper because of arriving summer (which is always the case, cheaper during summer, more expensive in winter) and most other things are about the same. Some things a few cents more maybe. I just checked price history and washing machines and other domestic appliances are stable too. Only PC parts are high, mostly GPUs, but memory and ssd storage went up a bit too.
The news is that the current situation of very low availability of current gen cards will keep going on until at least early 2022, possibly longer. Good luck waiting on lower prices and better availability.
The vendors and their suppliers know this so they hike the prices to ridiculous levels and that won't change until 2022.
idgaf, I’m ok with my current gpu with all the indie games and backlog and the severe lack of time I have to play even those anyway.
No need to pay inflated prices for a “bottom line” not so much of an upgrade.

MS and Sony ordered their CPU/GPU (APU) components a long time ago with contracts detailing time frames, amount of parts etc. so the makers prioritized those orders since they were BIG orders and pissing MS and/or Sony off would be really bad for business.
Just look what happened to NVidia when they fucked up their console GPU for the PS3. Also, NVidia doesn't make APU's (well, the Nintendo Switch uses the Nvidia tegra but it's not comparable to the big consoles), AMD does and they do it well, integrating a real CPU with a real GPU on the same die and they've become really good at it. They can sell the parts for a modest price (due to the high volumes) with good performance that will last ~1.5 console generations.
So there you have it; console makers learnt from the earlier console generations how to secure components well ahead of release with component providers willing to keep the manufacturing and delivery of those parts a priority.
Hah! I lost all interest in GPU related news, benchmarks or anything. I wont give a shit until prices normalize or I find a good discount.
