Hi humpers, the day of moving to the new house is approaching and I am looking for tips for setting up the cables around the house.

As the house is being built from the ground up, I want to take advantage of the fact that I can draw the cables however I want before everything gets finished up and I am looking for recommendations of what to take care of ( what equipment to consider, future proof solutions, etc )

This is what I know/need for now:
- LAN ports in every room ( probably overkill, as I am only using cable connection to my desktop )
- FTP cables drawn for surveillance ( I will have at least 2 cameras installed outside )

Things I don't know:

- what surveillance equipment to use (cameras, that thing that handles the recording, etc )
- what connections do I need for TV? Our current TV isn't smart so I use my PC connected to HDMI for movies, streaming ( HBO, Netflix, etc ) because its very close to my pc. But there, we will have a Smart TV which will eventually be connected to wifi, but how can I connect it to the PC, as it will be on a different room and floor?
- i need to consider a cabinet , somewhere that can be used as a tech cabinet, where I can store the internet router, AVR, switch? and I presume that's where the main internet line will be connected.

I think I listed some main points, please, people that already went trhu this, come up with some tips on arranging stuffs, I hate cables, I don't want to see any after the house is finished and we've moved in.

Thanks!

Lan ports are never overkill. I connect everything that I possibly can to ethernet. Including stuff like tv/consoles/apple-/android tv boxes etc.

Everything works better over wired vs. wireless.

Oh and don't cheap out on the cables. And cat. 6a of course. Heck, if nothing else, you can plug in access points/repeaters on those ports as well. Top wifi in every room Smile

Safer than Sweden anyways these days. It's way higher up on crime and safety index..

Got some cheaper surveillance camera for my parents.. My friend in Brazil has a partially electrified fence around the house, that's really the level of security people should be looking at here too, but probably not legal here (this is high voltage stuff lol). His whole house looks like a prison basically. Not a great look but at least it feels pretty safe when you visit him.

What's there to steal then? Razz

Unless you're in a really high crime areas, I don't understand the need for surveillance. What I would invest in: proper locks (one that's not bump keyable, they cost a bit more but they're much better), some door bolts, bars over easy to climb in windows. That's a much, much better investment. Then at least it's more likely that your stuff is still there, rather than watching someone take everything you've bought and never get anything back.
