Been playing this on and off. Bought it for 20 euro all expansions and the game with 30 days playtime so it's not bad.
So far Im around 55 doing the dragon questline. To me the MSQ had a ton of moments where I wanted to quit. Putting a cake 3 times with a few second cast bar on the same table just makes zero sense. Running all over the world getting to do 3 mobs every 20 mins and maybe a dungeon every few hours is pure shit for someone who just wants to do dungeons and combat. They should revisit the MSQ to clean up the useless quests. Should atleast be skippable and not have content locked behind 300+ quests.
ARR MSQ will get an overhaul later down the road, it was a bit rushed back then and feels a bit lower quality these days compared to the amazing Heavensward and Stormblood MSQs anyway you are trough the worst and have only great stuff ahead of you.

Something they should do as fast as possible, while it was waaaaaay better than that first abortion they put out. I'm still being turned away from it (and quite a bit of others too).
The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that is Heavensward and Stormblood isn't enough to get me past it.
Same issue I bitch to WoW, the outdated starting area is not representative to the latest expansion and has a big part of turning people away.
OK guise, I am about to give this a try, while breaking my old oath of 12 years ago, never to touch another MMO again in my life.
This came after a series of addictions, starting with Ultima Online, through Ragnarok Online and ultimately going over the top with Eve Online.
I did not want to taint my favourite childhood game series with this genre, but reading all the impressions online makes it seem like this is indeed the only true FF game from the last decade.
The way it works is you buy a family deal for four, and eat the whole thing. It's only available if you dine-in and apparently they do enforce the rule that you have to finish it before they'll hand you the code. Here's what's in the meal, thanks to Redditor u/Cozywolf for the translation:
1 Double Chicken Burger
1 Vegan Mushroom Burger
1 5-piece Chicken Nuggets
2 Original Recipe Chicken
1 2-piece New Orland Chicken Wings
1 Old Beijing Spicy Duck Roll
2 Pepsi (Large)
2 Peach Oolong Tea (Large)
That doesn't sound so bad, right? Except that's per person. You actually get four times that amount. Each person gets two burgers (one double chicken, one vegan mushroom), and four drinks (two large Pepsis, two large peach oolong teas), as well as the chicken pieces, duck roll, and nugs. Here is what that actually looks like.
Well it fits, get fat to get the fat funny mount!
Americans probably are already overweight so they got theirs just by buying stuff on Amazon
Now give EU promotion!
But on August 11, when FF14's 5.3 update titled Reflections in Crystal launches, I'm not going to have many caveats about recommending it anymore. Final Fantasy 14's free trial and A Realm Reborn are getting a big overhaul. Now, everything up to and including Heavensward, the first expansion, is free and the grind is being reworked to be much less annoying. Even if you don't intend to play after beating Heavensward, you're still able to experience one of the best stories in the entire series. If ever there was a time to start playing Final Fantasy 14, it's now.
That does sound really good. I wanted to try this game since forever, but since I have only little time to play, a sub made no sense. So does this mean I have to wait until August 11 to start with this, or can I begin now and some other changes will apply only then?

i'm booting this trash up on the trial now, i assume the level 35 restriction will be raised on the 11th so plenty of time to grind/play right now?
i know absolutely nothing about ff14, but i figure a few of my friends will go have a gander at this game now with the rather generous level cap. i don't know what to make of this move though, is this game on death row?
Is anyone else going to try the updated version tomorrow?
I have never played FF14 before, and generally I'm not a huge fan of MMORPGS, but I have heard tons of goods stuff in regards to this one, plus I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan. So with a little bit of peer pressure from friends, I'm willing to give it a shot

Anything I should know before I start?
Nah but i played trough everything allrdy and outside of the main story i get bored easily in this game, endgame is really really dull probably the worst of any of the top MMO's atm since it always follows the same formula without fail.
So i just play new xpaks and then quit since even alt job leveling is extremely boring compared to other MMO's (story is a 1 time thing and sidequests are also 1 time, really boring and give shit xp which pretty much only leaves leaves daily's and deep dungeons for anything but tank jobs which you have to grind till your eyes bleed)
I'm definitely gonna start playing this. Already set up a new char and killed some low level mobs. Once the update goes live tomorrow, I'll start diving into the quests.

Thought of taking a look at the new changes... ofcourse Square has to do things different. If you played before, that account can't do the trial without creating a new account.
Can't be bothered with that. Why can't they do it just like most do: your sub lapses->trial account.
Looks pretty fantastic so far and i'm loving the new Healer Job. It's still the only MMO i play atm and i didn't even bother returning to WoW this time, probably never will (nah who am i kidding BC classic might sway me for a while )
Just finished the newest expansion, Endwalker, oh boy what an emotional ride...
The whole FF14 saga is the best FF story and cast of characters by far, and the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant.
This is my GOTY easily and I don't feel like playing anything else this year.
