Only campaigns to me... I like playing with a storyline no matter what game is it.

I only skirmish because the campaigns are to scripted and you cannot utilize your entire arsenal.

a game without a campaign would be kinda incomplete
you gotta have some kind of story behind it

I like both, both very offent depends on the game. Sometimes they can have really good Campaign and then its just a real joy to play it out.

I always play both, i really can´t consider a game finished unless you complete the campaigns too.

Campaigns if it's good, like Act of War, but C&C Generals had a crappy campaign. I usually play campaign+multiplayer, but hardly ever skirmish.

I only play skirmish, as I hated scripted games, and where there's only two options in each game: Eaither you lose, or you win... Losing forces you to play again, while winning lets you play the next level... why not have something in between, where both winning and losing continiues the story, but changes the outcome in the end
If one day they manage to make a campaign that has the above, and where the story is interesting ... and without all the scripting, then I'll play the campaign
So far there's only one game where such campaign exists, and it's the Conquer The World campaign in Rise of Nations, which is great. Not only is it the only RTS campaign I've ever finished, I've actually finished it many times

Depends on the game, but most of the time I dont have the patience to go unlock a new unit every mission, so skirmish for entertainment.

I've never liked the Total War series, not my kind of game... and I HATE Star Wars... Battle for Middle Earth I've never heard about, but the name says it has something to do with fantasy, which is even worse than star wars

Depends on the game.......
Games like Rome: Total war (Rome Total War).... the campaign pretty much is skirmish....
But most RTS games i fucking *HATE* campaigns "Goto this spot and kill this"
RTS are my fav type of game ... for the pure fact of multiplayer skirmish games....
But once again.. RTS games are just sooo varied its almost impossible to put them all in the same leauge....
We got
- Empire Building Type : Rome Total War
- Basic Base Building : LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth
- Extreme Base Building : Empire Earth, Rise Of Nations , Age Of Empires
- Hardly Any Base Building : Star Wars
Etc etc etc
Some Campaigns are cool if they have a real good story (Think Red Alert... Act Of War ... etc etc etc)
But most are complete shit....

The only RTS campaign I played through was Dune 2, Emperor Battle for Dune, Red Alert 1 and Red Alert 2. But usually I play skirmishes.
Of course I don't count games like the Total War series.
