This mainly falls on the developers to give enough choices for the players to develop a character that they want. I personally felt that Dragon Age: Origins did an excellent job of allowing the player to really make the character their own with the dialogue choices.

DA origins and FO NV is still by far the closest thing to a true RPG I played in that regard. ( some isometric rpg's aside maybe I don't play those)

This game is a fine Far Cry-esque action adventure title. But its problem is it over promised what it was gonna deliver by such a large margin compared to the "final" product that it's just painful to see what could've been right before the engine shits itself.
its issues go far deeper than just the bugs.
I doubt many people would be mad or disappointed if they just promised a far cry like game in a cyberpunk city.

You get to choose your own dialog here, the trick is:

[Objective: Let the doctor install the chip]

Conversation choices:
-You know what doc? Fuck this I had enough!
-Go ahead doc install the chip!
-I will kill you you piece of shit!

After choice, doc's answer:
-What was that my dear? I'm a bit deaf. I'm installing the cheap as we speak!

Exactly my experience and opinion which removes the "RPG" from this game. I doubt this is an issue that can be patched out as it's not a weird bug youtubers can make funny compilations out of.

Honestly this is false advertisement and a bait and switch. There is sound legal reasons for the lawsuits as it's incredibly shady behavior. Seems like marketing was calling all the shots while knowing nothing about game development process.

Yeah, more you play, more its just an ultra scripted short, simplistic game where you watch people talk and the ocassional gameplay bits. Pretty much any sidequest is simplistic shit. If this were the most polished game in the world, the apex of programming and refinement, it would still be a pretty poor game, in the way its designed.

How do you manage to find 126 hours of gameplay in this? I take it you read all the documents or something?

According to Steam, I played 12.5 hours, and I'm now at the point of no return, having done about all side quests, with exception of the epistrophy ones as they are completely broken in my game.

Plenty of gigs left, though, so I probably missed some good ones here (at least I found the one with the vending machine). Although according to their desciptions, the remaining ones all seem either psychokillers or killing/protecting/stealing something.

They keep poping up from time to time. I am 64hrs in and I have barely scratched main quest. And still new side quest keep showing up. Friend of mine is 96hrs in the game and he is in the same moment with main quest as I am.
But this is with gigs and side quests and some side seeing Very Happy

yet everyone here on the forum was when I wrote that for me: 30 hours with main + side quests (not all)

Yes it takes 4-5 hours for the "Cyberpunk 2077" title to show up, but that is only a bait. Act2 is basically 3 different quests and then: act 3 ending.

Well if anything, I think Steam is also counting the play time wron, as I played at least 5 hours yesterday alone. So I think I'm closer to 40hrs, maybe a bit more. But as stated in the video above, a lot of 'game' are cutscenes with meaningless dialog choices.

yes, also I wouldn't count game time reading the databanks. Yes it's game time, but if the actual game is like 2-3 hours but you have like 9999+ pages to read in it which then gives you 50 hour of playtime then that is artificial bullshit.
This is like RDR2 collect every stuff. Sure you can have 50+ hour more with that, but if someone is there for quests and story, it's pure deception to tell her/him that you still have 50 hours left hunting for items on the map.

And yeah I forgot: my gametime is based on without using any fast travel points.

You admitted you skipped all the significant side quests though, including all the quests involving Johnny's friends and bandmates, Panam's extended nomad quests and River's whole questline.

You didn't even know who River was when it was mentioned.

You can't claim to have done most of the side quests if you've actually skipped most of it.

yes, I did that. It would probably add 5 more hours doing those, but still. I find it uncomfortable knowing that the main quest is like 10 hours or so.

Also keep in mind I did all the driving, so that have added to my game time as well, where normally people rely on fast travel.

It's a bit like a cake with some dressing where the dressing is 70% and the actual cake is 30%. Or like Dishonored 2: Rich detailed world. Yes it was. Walking 1 cm forward: journal. 2cm forward journal. Whereas the actual map was very tiny, and artificial.

It would have made much more sense probably not to distinguish the side and the main quests so that the player has to figure out the actual route to the ending.

Also I really can't imagine people with 100+ hours in this. With my 30ish hours I find it hard to play it anymore. I've seen all the skills, weapons, items etc.
The only thing that keeps me interested is that they release a patch so a next playthrough might worth it. (I had tons of bugs during main story missions)

I knew the Witcher series and I've played them (although I didnt like them, I still thought that they were quality games) and I thought this will be as almost as lenghty and quality. But I should've known: I've bought the CE, Guide CE, Artbook CE so it ought to be shit.

So... gaining street cred is as easy as just simply murdering everyone after a fire fight, right? Because apparently I'm already at max street cred for quite a long time. What is that silly non-lethal attachment for anyway? Most weapons that do not have this attachment don't kill the enemies as they just lay on the ground breathing in pain. But I made sure that they won't be able to tell their stories by visiting each enemy one by one with my machete Twisted Evil

they are for non lethal playthroughs. Where basically you shoot them, but "technically" they wont die, they just go to sleep.
(How can anything die in a videogame?)

30 hours and has seen "everything", makes sense when you're competing for a speedrun.com place skipping every dialogue and sprinting to every marker skipping enemies Laughing Laughing

@PumpAction There's an attachment but you probably have Cyberware installed that is non-lethal, that's why.

You get a small amount of street cred for defeating any random gang member. Not necessarily killing them.

If you use a non-lethal weapon then they usually lie there rocking back and forth, as opposed to motionless if you put a round through their head.
