People are willing to take any crap their favorite developer/publisher throws at them. Isn't this a little sad.
I wondered the same with The Witcher 3. Finished it only because I kept being optimistic there will be some fun in it (also because Heart of Stone gave me hope about the whole game). But nah, that was just a boring graphical novel with some fighting and lots of boring walking, riding and swimming/boating (screw Skellige!!!).
But both games are probably exact opposites of themselves so it's a bit understandable that people liking one can dislike the other.
One has great stories, atmosphere and immersion but basic combat (but enemies variety is massive) and grey gameplay (Gwenth was perhaps the only colour to it with few rare drops).
While Cyberpunk has lacking stories (still have to finish the main story, I only hear it's just as great as in W3. And there are still interesting side stories but mostly told in texts, as I mentioned on the last page), decent atmosphere with ruined immersion due to bugs. Combat is slightly above good tho not great. Gameplay is great and more variable (but some side games such as Gwenth would be nice).
If they squish most of the bugs, greatly improve the NPC AI and the crime system + cops, add some DLC with better missions (like W3's HoS, maybe new game modes) this will be one of the best games for the last decade.
Oh, and don't forget they are planning to release an Online mode. Probably similar to GTA. That will be a totally different shitshow.
By missing most of the game you mean the copy pasta gigs, killing enemies grouped around a pda and buying expensive cars that drive like crap? You'll miss a few nice missions buried underneath a lot of filler content. There isn't much interesting to see outside the marked icons on the map and the majority of these are just there for quantity. And most of the cool missions are given to you before street cred 30.
I did everything and then some more and it wasn't worth it. They didn't take advantage of this amazing world at all.
Seems to me they had a really cool story plan going on with jackie until the keanu thing happened not long ago and they had to rewrite and cut up the whole main story to accommodate for his phoned in voice overs. Nothing against the actor but his inclusion imo did more harm than good to the project.
My Barry quest had a "happy ending" I guess, with him...
Spoiler:
letting his buddies in after I explained to them what was bothering him.
The funny thing is that the failed state seems perfectly appropriate to the setting and real world depression/psychological issues. I Googled it afterwards to figure out what I did wrong and had a WTF moment at the revelation of the backstory.
so he made it more rich in contrast, a setting which any TV, monitor or even in-game setting has (gamma) - whoopee diddely derp! and yes darker contrast will bring out glossiness a bit more. the default graphics were more realistic.
First I tried to beat up the stalker, but somehow it killed her. Then I tried to grab her from behind and choke her () and her body got stuck to mine, was stuck in the little gunstore with her. Then after completing the mission, Blue Moon simply disappeared mid-convo

The things that happened with Jackie and Dex in Act 1 were clearly part of the plan, shock effect. As for Keanu, it's a great addition IMO.
Yeah at first I thought those 3 percentage thingies at the top in the menu meant 3 different main storylines.
that would have been cool
I spent about 40 hours in the game and enjoyed it but left a lot of side stuff unfinished for now.
Definitely looking forward to another playthrough in a year or two with an expansion in there.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
If they make a blank/open protagonist they get criticised for not having an interesting player character and story.
This mainly falls on the developers to give enough choices for the players to develop a character that they want. I personally felt that Dragon Age: Origins did an excellent job of allowing the player to really make the character their own with the dialogue choices.
