Hello fellow traveler, I was once an adventurer like you until I took an arrow to the knee. (Queue flashback) its gonna be on the first episode or mid season episode for the memes of course.

They'd better allocate some proper budget for it and hire half-decent writers possibly not from the College of Legbeard, or else we'll end up with Xena rev.2022

Agree with that, the game world is fairly good though. I had to look it up but you have the devines & daedric princes with their own stories and motivations. The Khajit and Lizard races are interesting enough designs to add something unique to the races. I like the Dwemer and Falmer as well as creature designs and lore (i can barely remember it though), the rest is fairly standard fantasy setting stuff, guilds, factions, wolves, vampires etc.
Perhaps the MMO explores the lore in greater detail but i've never found the quests etc really draw me in, in comparison to any of the Witcher games anyway.

I barely know any fantasy that isn't derivative of Tolkien. Even slavic fantasy borrow heavily from Tolkiens works (which in turn was influenced by Celtic, Norse, Germanic (esp. the rings) medieval British etc. mythology but woven together in such an amazing way with great storylines and an amazing amount of background work (describing sooo many people, events and building a very complex world of the first 3 eras and the time before).
I really loved Morrowind's lore though. Very thorough work to build their own vast mythology which unfortunately wasn't carried over to Oblivion. Skyrim is basically based on pure Norse mythology.
"Old Norse draugr is defined as "a ghost, spirit, exp. the dead inhabitant of a cairn". Often the draugr is regarded not so much as a ghost but a revenant, i.e., the reanimated of the deceased inside the burial mound (as in the example of Kárr inn gamli in Grettis saga)."
I'd really like to see an epic Morrowind show that is inspired by the main plotline in Morrowind. I doubt we'll see that though.

Skyrim is super boring, i've modded it for thousands of hours, played it for perhaps 40h, never finished it. Morrowind and Oblivion was more interesting. Morrowind is my favorite though, the world building is superior, its my favorite game when it comes to world design. it's quite a small game by todays standards yet it feels absolutely epic in comparison to newer and larger open world games. it mixes mystique, fantasy and an alien world just perfectly.

yeah. i should have added horror too, even if it's more "spooky", more atmospheric than something scary.

Cool. I wish i had played this as a kid, that would have scared the hell out of me im sure, but i always loved scary games... hell i thought friday the 13th on the C64 was a bit scary, but the most scary game for me was Scarabaeus, the first 3D perspective game i ever played.
