fuck no , any dev that spends serious recources for apple only version going straight on my blacklist thats recources not spent on pc master race
i do like linus his review of it, he said 20 hours of battery life
but knowing apple, this is all gonna be like some closed system shenanigance , fuck that
The good thing that will happen is other manufacturers are gonna have to play catchup on battery life and amd can potentially come out bigtime here with their low power cpus , and a hard push to move to more fanless designs
so thanks apple for my bigger battery life future regular low budget amd laptop, and possibly fanless aswel so no noise

Yeah, while you wait for Windows ARM going anywhere, Apple already did the switch and it seems to be great. And this is the first generation. I expect something mind blowing for Gen 2.
? In germany we dropped waifus macbook pro and brought it to a local official partner retailer. They opened the thing, re-attached the display cable (it still comes lose from time to time) and voila, display was back on. And they did it for free
i cant deny, the fanless concept does blow away the competition, the thing has no fan and doesnt seem to throtle at all , which is really cool for the future as tiny fans always have this horrendous hign pitch in games in laptops
whats superweird is though the performance on battery was same as when plugged in, that seems like odd , and possibly potential for much better performance in future if they allow more then 5 wats to be allocated to the gpu
This would be my next MBA but I cannot justify replacing my 2015 MBA just yet. It still runs well.

5 of the 7 games in the first video he ran worked well?
Pretty sure WOW barely even supports OSX anymore either. Last Epoch also dropped Mac support because of ARM. The same guy has 20+ other videos benchmarking games on it and he's more often impressed than not
Anyone buying it specifically for games is an idiot, but being able to play the ones I listed is a nice added bonus and a HUGE performance leap from the previous MBA
WoW works natively on M1 chip, performance is very nice.
Ye it is insane, M1 air ran better WoW than 2018 macbook pro 15" with dedicated AMD radeon, also M1 air did not make any sound while 15" macbook pro was like just about to take off like Boeing and was scorching hot. Cant wait for the "M1X" chips which should be announced next month, those things will be probably insane and i will buy one if you can get one with atleast 32GB RAM.
Retail WoW has native M1 client. I made the comparison in Burning Crusade Classic which is not native M1 client, it still ran better than on the 15" pro ...
New M1 pro and M1 max are insane, up to 64GB unified memory on max, 10 core cpu with and up to 32 GPU cores. 16" macbook pro fully loaded is 7500€ (8tb SSD is 2500 euros alone)

Anyone has got these laptops already? Seems that youtubers took them all, each has like all of the different configurations... Ordered next day from release event the 16" M1 Max (full chip and 64GB memory along with 1 TB SSD), still need to wait for like 5 weeks?
For anyone else who cares... you can do a fair bit more on M1 macs with emulators than you could 12 months ago. This is a PS2 emulator built for Mac ARM CPUs:
I just finished playing 30 mins of MGS2 at 4K and it hasn't dipped below 60FPS yet. Downloading a bunch fo PS2 roms at the moment to test some more.
PS3 emulation:
The guy above is using an M1 Ultra but it all works fine on my M1 MBP 14" 10C/16C with 16GB RAM. They're still shit for new games but quite capable for much of this older stuff.
Really impressive, I'm starting to look at new laptop and it looks like the options haven't changed. Would love to see some performance vs the Dell XPS 13 Plus, the current Dell is (45% faster than current M1 MBP), but has crap inputs, no headphone jack, no escape key.
The new mba is 1468,78 € with 8GB Ram and 256GB SSD.
