I kinda wish the game had proper world events like car chases, crazy naked people on the street with police/trauma team coming to stop him , random car accidents with npc getting out and fight it over (pewpew) etc
Maybe they tried something but the result is in that video
Even if it is a bit janky like Bloodlines I still rather have the 3rd person option available then no option for it at all so hopefully that mod does get released at some time.
It's the worst type of third person though - the ungrounded, floaty feet kind
I'm pretty sure even in the early-mid 2000s, the Hitman games had this sort of thing sorted
Seems like it's just one other thing they wanted but were never able to add in time
What are you basing this on? As i recall there was no intention/announcement of going 3rd person at any point.
The effort in the video merely looks like someone messing around with camera coordinates relative to the model which i presume will never get much further than that.
To add to this, modders have already confirmed there are virtually no 3p animations in the meshes. The ones that exist are extremely basic.
Not to say there won't be a 3p camera mod, but if there is it will be missing a whole bunch of animations and the ones that are visible will probably be very rough.
CDPR would probably have to add a whole bunch of new mocapped anims to support it properly.
Once you stop focusing on the driving AI (I for one don't care) and the wanted system (once again, don't care), and focus on the story, the game instantly becomes a lot better.
The city being lifeless is a problem, a big one, if you want an immersive sim (people going up, checking out your new car, random conversations on street, random events, etc).
But for me the city is a backdrop, and nothing more. Treat it as such, and the game becomes instantly a whole lot better.

But those are three major parts of the game (even if you ignore them).
Being an old p&p player of this game i cant just ignore these things.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I'm almost done with the game and the story and characters are quality, but the static world is very annoying. It's like a Mafia game - the city is the backdrop - and the replay value is low unless you really want to experience the story for a second time.
How delusional must they have been to commission 5 episodes of that Night City Wire, knowing full well the state of the game. Not to mention all the other merchandise and endorsements. They didn't half set themselves up for the mother of all falls. I doubt they will ever live this down.
Well, in Europe at least, PSN have just given us instruction to NOT honour the refunds advised by CDPR, so PS4 players are currently stuck with a completely broken game.
The attitude is it will be patched eventually. Of course, Sony probably stand to lose millions in lost sales so it's unsurprising they'll try to hold on to the money for as long as possible...
CDPR probably should never have released that statement...

What am I basing a guess on? Third person mode being some what useable, a solid base to create a third person system, third person being more popular in other games that offer a choice and around 500 other features / systems that were either cut or half arsed
Out of all the broken promises this aint one, they never intended to go first person. The only mentioning of 3rd person is way back in 2012 before they even started working on the game, but since the official reveal it was all 1st person.
Didn't know you could do this...not that there is much you can do with it, it just sits in your apartment next to your bed
How did you do that?
Talking about cats, I found one which was eating underwater - obviously a bug
When you leave your apartament head left and you will see a shard in a trash can that is named "Feed teh cat", if you look down you can see a bowl and If you have some cat food on you, you can place it there. Then either wait a couple of hours or sleep in your apartment and the cat should spawn there and you can pick it up and it takes you to a little cutscene inside your apartment and voila you have your first true friend in Night city \o/

At that point you make it sound like: If this would have been a book rather than a game, it would be excellent! Story is top notch
