Well technically that's true, if you consider that the first "gameplay" reveal at the end of 2018 was a vertical slice. At best the current iteration is no more than 2 years old, and I'd expect probably more like 18 months.
I saw a ps5 owner in Bahrain last weekend. He had turned up to the GP with his straight outta the box 2020 Toyota RAV4 and couldn't understand why he couldn't qualify. The bloke ranted at the track builders for designing and making a track that was so unfair to toyota owners.

well the groans and moans are a constant thing regardless of how good a game is.. but looking at the steam bandwidth charts, i'd say this is already a winner based on hearsay alone

This is why I always customise settings, I never like presets as there are quite a few things I'm perfectly happy to reduce but at the same time I never want to compromise on mesh/texture quality.
