Soo..........

CDP gets the biggest fanboy rush for no reason other than they're better than most AAA developers. Every game they've released is always a buggy fucking mess, and still a buggy fucking mess even after all the patching and the DLC.

On top of that, they've only ever done 3 games and IMO, only 2 of them were even worth mentioning.

But you know, fanboys gotta fanboy. And with almost nothing else noteworthy coming out this year, just makes it that much worse.

I'm not a cdp fanboy and cyberpunk will be far from perfect. But let's be honest. Name one open world single player RPG that does something like cyberpunk in terms of production values. Only rockstar can make games this size and they make them for casuals. For this, cdp is a gem in the gaming industry, altough there releases are few and flawed in some aspects.

If the character class stories are markedly different, then it's not so different than a film trilogy set in the same universe. I for one will do a playthrough on each.

That's a bit of a stretch. Sure, the life path makes a few changes to the story or the approaches a player takes but it doesn't in any way morph into a film trilogy. Beyond the intro, the 6 origins in Dragon Age: Origins made minor changes to how the main quests were approached but that didn't turn it into 6 different games.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

I dunno what you guys expect. From advanced pnp mechanics it went to borderlands-like pick your +3% damage perk.

This won't even be able to kiss the feet of Deus Ex (go install it) or have deep underling mechanics of New Vegas when the biggest choice in character creation you have is the size of your dick Laughing Rolling Eyes

I hope it will have at least good quality story but from what I saw I won't expect anything more than Crysis 2 level of character resolution Wink

It’s notable that the creator of the original “Cyberpunk” tabletop game, Michael Pondsmith, worked closely with CDPR to retain its authenticity to the genre and the source material. That’s where some of the narrative problems start to seep in.

While “The Witcher” was based on a novel series that pulled mythological inspiration from CDPR’s native land of Poland, “Cyberpunk” is a vision of a much broader, more diverse world, one that CDPR seems less equipped to depict. That’s not to say that this story and its characters aren’t engaging, but that it relies on giving virtual life to caricatures drawn by the original board game. A Latino character leans too heavily on overused Spanish swear words in normal conversation. Sex workers are given little nuance to their characters beyond the parameters of their chosen profession.

And for years, trans activists have shone a light on why its depiction and seemingly willful ignorance on gender can create damage for a marginalized community, even within the game’s context of capitalism objectifying humanity for gain. In its narrative, CDPR chose adherence to a known and problematic formula over upending the cyberpunk genre. This might be an insurmountable hurdle for some — and understandably so.

The Washington Post is complaining that CDPR's Cyberpunk is faithful to its source material.

Translation: People that I myself summarize by using their profession as if its an all encompassing characteristic, is depicted as little more than their chosen profession.

I mean how is how they said that any more self defeating of your own argument than saying it as "Street Whores are given little attention beyond being simply labeled as street whores".
If we are demanding depth of characters for background NPC's I want equal for all. I want to know more about that delivery truck driver that I ran over in GTA V. He was more than just a UPS guy doing his job. I find it unfair and discriminatory we treat him as merely a "Guy carrying boxes". Or the life struggles and tribulations and the complexity of the life the guy on the phone that I ran over at the light pole had in his life (before I took it).

GOTY will fix it. Same as it was with Witcher 3 Laughing

PS They should have ditched their engine. It clearly can't deal with such density and stuff.

Just remember Novigrad before patches.. And here the city is much ,much bigger.

You gotta admit, though, the CP2077's "complexity" is quite different from TW3=> more bugs and broken shit.

+

If we are to believe the rumors they had some serious problems (mismanagement) Very Happy

It worked fine for me Very Happy I had some performance issues, but patches fixed that.

I encountered just a few bugs tbh, nothing serious.

An additional year of patches, extra content, and UI tweaks is CDPR's M.O. since their first game. CP2077 shouldn't be any different. TW3 was very playable on release though; I don't remember any major bugs, but maybe my memory is failing me.

I agree, but as a consumer, I really don't give a fuck. A more complex game that is broken all kinds of ways is a much worse experience than a simpler games that just works (or almost just works). They've been working on this turd for how many years now? And how many delays? But sure sure sure, that last one month delay, that what would have fixed all the isueezzzz Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yes, that's true, and it was justifiable. But it ran fine for me, and I don't remember glaring bugs (not saying there weren't).

I don't have high hopes at all.

Seems like it's going to be mediocre in each category, except the story.

Mediocre combat, mediocre stats, mediocre open-world, mediocre driving.....
