That was... terrible? Avoiding seeing it in Covid-ridden cinemas was definitely a good decision Laughing

Feels like Nolan had the brilliant idea that things look cool in reverse and then just winged the rest of it. Any potential emotional investment or character development is sacrificed in favor of exposition, which is a shame because the plot still makes no fucking sense. I'm sure Nolan is really proud of himself for looking up some scientific terms on Wikipedia and pasting them into the script.

The reverse shit isn't nearly as cool as he seems to think it is, certainly not enough to carry the whole movie, and the PG-13 action scenes look even more pathetic than usual. The big set piece fight felt like a bunch of people getting together to play paintball.

Even a lot of the acting is iffy. Can't blame the actors really, since they barely have any lines that aren't exposition and technobabble.

0/10, Nolan is dead to me.

Plot is simple even a 5 year old can understand it.
Concept was executed really well apart from a few actor fuck ups. They layman the science stuff fairly well. Even I, a pollack, could understand it.

Also the idea isn't new. Rod Dougan from matrix fame had the idea for his music videos. There are pretty much other examples as well, but I only know of that one off the top of my head.

I know that "you just didn't understand it, pleb!" is a frequent answer to criticism of Nolan's movies (hell, I think even I used it once or twice Laughing ), but the problem is not lack of understanding, it's that the in-movie rules and time travel mechanics make little to no sense, and the script tries to mask it by peppering real scientific terms here and there.

His previous movies had the same problem of falling apart once you leave the theater/close the player window, but their other aspects usually were enough to compensate. Not in this case.

Yeah, the more I think about this movie, the harder it sucks Laughing

A 5 year old can grasp the concept, but the implications make zero sense and in-movie rules are all over the place.

Initially bullets travel backwards because of some huge nuclear holocaust, and a few minutes later it turns out it's actual technology, and it becomes a poor man's Primer.

The fight between the normal and inverse looked cool, but also went against rules previously set; the normal one trying to 'catch' the inverse gun on the ground, but you only see the gun jumping into his hand when seeing the fight from the inverse guy's pov.
How does that match with the 'catching the reverse bullet'?

People also don't de-age when traveling backwards (as they talk and breath normally while in that bubble), so you have to ignore the idea of people aging/looking different with time.

Fun movie that introduces new concepts which is cool.

I think when it comes to time-traveling movies that are not purely deterministic, there's no point in trying to figure out loopholes—just assume it makes sense and roll with it, otherwise they all become unwatchable.

Since I'm a sucker for time travel stories/movies (and have been disappointed soooo many times from movies and a few books although most books I've read have had pretty good thought out time travel in them) I had no trouble grasping the concepts presented. The problem for me was that there were some issues/mistakes that made me and many others feel something was "off" or somewhat illogical.

A very good looking turd.
Boring, unlogical story. Function follows form.
Just a bad movie.

Enjoyed it a lot.
Not my favorite Nolan movie but not my least favorite either.

It was captivating from start to finish.
Overall an excellent and quite unique feeling film with flaws.

He's looking for 2160P that has a smaller size than 65GB. Smile

@pho08

Tenet.2020.IMAX.2160p.BluRay.x265.10bit.SDR.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-SWTYBLZ - 45GB
Tenet.2020.IMAX.2160p.UHD.BluRay.x265.10bit.HDR.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-SWTYBLZ - 29.88GB

If you want something in the other direction:

Tenet.2020.IMAX.2160p.BluRay.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-ESiR - 82.54GB

That rip better be absolutely flawless. 82.54GB in HEVC format. Laughing
Definitely the choice for Leo. Wink

Gets worse. Save yourself the trouble and rewatch Inception instead.

And the action scenes are just mind numbingly (and dumbingly) bad. The scene where Washington and Twatman fight in the airport hanger is so terribly choreographed, so badly filmed. How is this even i just don't even

For me it was the dialog and acting of those first 20 minutes, it was made to be so "mysterious".

I'm like.. that's not how people talk. That's like a fucking poem or some shit.

I also had trouble understanding who was the dude working for in the first place? How and why did he get recruited into this? The establishing of the world shouldn't really be that cryptic... I'm sure it only gets worse from there and I'm already bored.

Shit-delete for now. Maybe in 6 months I'll try it again

it is a very fascinating movie, from start to finish it was very engaging and the runtime just flys by. the intro and car chasing sequence were so well done, but the movie lacked emotion. the score, while great, with some parts really good, is not at zimmer level, zimmer also brought emotion through his score so that helped elevate the movie more.

overall high concept but not the best nolan movie, plot is easy to understand.

also some bits in the actions scenes like the fighting do look bad/weird, but how else it gonna look? from their perspective each are moving forward in time but in reality the other always moves backwards. so the scenes were well done but the outcome effect wasnt the best?

That's actually something that would lead to a smaller file size, but come on, it's 50% bigger Very Happy

Jesus christ, the audio mixing is done for people with good headphones or a home cinema setup that doesn't need to account for neighbours.. I have a nice audio system but I had to constantly have my hands on the remote to increase volume during dialogues (increasing center to max helped only a little) and decrease it during the actions scenes, else my neighbours would've called the cops I guess Laughing I hate noise normalization, but this movie would've benefitted from a slightly different mix. At least when watching at home Sad The action scenes (up until the 1 hour mark - I'm not done with the movie yet) are also quite disjointed. I can only guess some of it is to reveal some time related gimmicks later on, but they either lack punch or they are cut in a fashion where you feel as if you are missing some shots.

I found all the reverse shot parts hit wtf parody level for me, that fight scene especially when one of them zips along the floor. The final battle scene as well, it needed more subtlety, the reversed footage is so over-the-top it it completely pulls you out of the movie.

I appreciate Nolan had free creative control here, a large budget and its a ballsy idea and concept. It missed the mark for me by seemingly breaking its own rules and going so over the top with reverse/inverse logic.

Wtf guys.
I watched it on a 10 year old lcd TV in the bedroom again and I had no audio issues lol. Of course plex handled the transcoding for me. But no audio issues. Now I'm legitimately curious. If its just stereo downmix that is mixed better?

I'll have to find time to watch it in the living room. Then again that TV is only used for sesame street and dora and Pocoyo and sometimes bobs burgers. And after 7pm everything else is watched in bedroom. Lol. Sad I may have to actually wait 8 years to actually watch it with a surround system.

I think its worth a watch because they've let Nolan do his thing and its a ballsy idea and concept, but ya I thinks he definitely missed the mark here.

The only flaw in that is people look inherently odd when reversed. He did a decent job ensuring that its not always odd. So some scenes you can see actors trying their best moving backwards to make it look natural. Shorter shots works. Longer ones, not so much. Lol. But still impressive.

Writing is shit. I get that. But everything else, bruh guys. Wtf?! This movie is so pretty to look at! Visually engaging. Just the story is complete shit. Lol.

10bit hdr one for best quality.
Also relatively smallest size compared to others. Quicker to shift delete after.
