Indeed. Once you go wireless there is no going back.
I'm gonna buy upcoming Logitech Wireless Pro X white at some point, and replace my current Logitech Wireless Pro with it. |
I went through 3 expensive wireless mouse where I dont think any of them lasted more than 6mo, so I guess you do go back, goodluck. |
I think my G Pro Wireless is over a year now. We shall see.

I think no one has it. Before I bought the Viper I was looking into wireless mice and hadn't seen the Chakram mentioned once. Doesn't seem to be a popular choice.

For me all of the latest Logitech mice developed double clicking issues in 6-12 months. I was willing to tolerate it for a while because they had a great RMA process (break the mouse, send them a photo, they send you a new one). But now they have switched to the usual "talk to the shop first etc.", at least in my country. Not worth the hassle anymore.

I don't know anything about the best mouse. Anyone with knowledge willing to check out whether the Asus Chakram is worth the 90 euros? The Razer Basilisk Ultimate seems great, but waaaay too expensive.

After some quick googling I already see two major issues that are enough to disqualify it:
1. It's too heavy
2. It's imbalanced
People also mention poor build quality, the thumbstick being a gimmick and awkward shape/size, but a lot of that is subjective.

Thanks man. I don't know what you mean by imbalanced, but I assumed a heavier mouse would be better with slower games. I don't play shooters. I have a CM Octane now btw, but I want a wireless mouse. I'll dismiss the Chakram.

Imbalanced as in the weight is poorly distributed (in this case, the back of the mouse is noticeably heavier than the front). This can lead to unwanted rotation around the center of mass or tilting when lifting the mouse, which is maddening for me.
As far as weight in general goes, I think light mice > heavy mice unless you need a shitload of buttons for MMOs or work. Even if you don't play shooters now, light mice are still more comfortable to use in every other type of game.

I got a G900 for 3 years now and it still works pretty well. I need to clean it though.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Just ordered the ASUS ROG Gladius II Wireless. Got it for 50€ instead of the normal 90ish... I think it's a pricing error in that shop lol.

And luck has it, that shop is 5 minutes from where I live, so no shipping fees ^^

Problem is people forget the thing about electronics, when you're as big a company as Logitech and you make tens of thousands of products, you're going to get some duds here and there.
I'd be willing to bet they sell more mice than the next 2 popular brands combined. You're going to get bad products out the door when you're selling the amount of shit they do.
Of course you see bad reviews of them, mad people are louder than those who are at home sitting quietly. People are more likely to review something when something goes wrong than when they're happy.
Shit I've had a G500s, G600, G402, G502 and now my G900 (which i got like, 3 years ago). Only problem I had with any of them was the 600 that the mouse wheel got stuck going right but I think that's cause I had it sitting in a drawer and might have had something on top of it.
Other than that, no issues with any of them. Never had to RMA any of them. Got my cousin a G502 Hero like 2 years ago. Still running great.
Could maybe look at Roccat's ugly stuff. I personally won't touch them after the bullshit they pulled on Epsilon back when they were starting out.
Steelseries has the Rival 650. I've never used their stuff, I knew someone that did, they seemed to like them.

I'm still using m510 from Logitech for like..6 years now(?) without any issues.
I'm using it 10+ hours a day between work and gaming, easily 80+ hours a week, and its still going fine. Replaced the batteries maybe 4-5 times since I had it? No more than once a year for sure.
All the buttons work like the day I got it with solid tactile click and never double clicked on me, wheel is still fine.
Now its not a fancy mouse.
No on the fly DPI, or LED lights, or adjustable weight system or anything like that. But in my experience the more bells & whistles and 'transformer' looking extra case pieces it has for aesthetics only ..the faster it breaks.

That's the thing: The old mice don't die because they have proper switches, the newer ones have the cheap ones.

Seems to have been a pricing error indeed Cannot see it for that price anymore.
Also screw you for making my decision even harder... I was gonna get the Viper Ultimate, but this one here seems good as well. Now I can't make up my mind

I got the Razer Basilisk Ultimate, I must say I'm impressed. I never would have thought to say that about a mouse. It's not heavy at all and it glides on the mousemat. It's also damn accurate, I thought all the miss clicks I had with my wired mouse was me being derp/old. I actually had to aim in Windows The scroll wheel resistance slider is a great addition, I like it very much. I know Logitech has hyperscroll and it's supposed to be great, but I never really used that when I had a Logitech mouse. Connection is stable and I can't notice any lag at all. I also got the charging dock, does it's job. I've seen some build quality issue on the net (loose parts, rattles when shaking), but I don't have any of that. This is also my first mouse with the thumb rest thing. How did I live without it all these years!? Some reviews also state the laser switches they use don't have satisfying clicks, but I like the soft click. I have no idea what a satisfying mouse click would be :/
Great mouse, but 104 euros was the max for me, I never would've paid full price. I've used Logitech twice, one cheap wired mouse and one 80 euros or so wireless mouse, I had bad experiences. Both didn't last long and build quality was questionable. This was years ago though. The Basilisk feels a lot sturdier when being held.

Yeah I've got viper ultimate and friend just got basilisk. The scroll wheel on it is fantastic. The mouse itself is not my shape at all since ther eis no groove for pinky on right side and it's quite heavy. But it's super quality anyway

I never really lift my mouse and the mouse glides smooth, so the weight is no problem for me. What do you mean with groove for pinky KC? I can't see that on pics.

I've order the ASUS ROG Gladius II Wireless following the recommendations here instead of the Viper Ultimate.
I wish it would be as comfy as the Logitech G Pro was. After two $150 Logitech mouses went bad after only a few months, I hope this one will be actually durable.

It's my personal thing. not many people use my grip.
I use 1-3-1 fingertip grip all the time. That means I hold the mouse with thumb and pinky and keep 3 fingers on top (middle on scroll wheel all the time).
@Yeah as shocktrooper said. mx518 was the king of 1-3-1 grip too but I am suprised how good viper is. I am not a huge fan of the scroll on it though

I bought it 2 days ago and I am quite happy with it so far.
It supports corded and 2.4ghz @ 1000hz and Bluetooth at 125hz.
I use either claw or palm grip, tending more towards claw when it gets hectic and palm for more relax usage and it works very well with both.
It also comes with easy to replace switches and a set of different switches (Japanese something).
The ergonomic is very good and it has like 1ms latency with the radio mode.
Ofc I got it for like half the price because I think the shop used the price of the wired version instead of the wireless one... but that's just a plus, lol.
The feet are also looking like standard MS, so they're easy to replace.
It is a bit on the heavier side, tho. Personally I like that, I hate when a mouse is too light, but others might don't. It's 125g, if ever. So if you lift up your mouse a lot, it's maybe not the best choice.
