Oh yes I forgot, Sin calling it a GOTY (as with any game he hasn't encountered bugs in) is a definite sign of quality

Great GOTY contender ... Very Happy

Def. not for me. Although thus far it is not a strong year for PC gaming. DOOM comes closest for me. Perhaps Warzone.

But holding out for CDPR.

Still a really good game perhaps, yet probably only because of the major disappointments this year which had big names on top of them unfortunately so naturally people play what they like most thematically Razz

Just downloaded 4.3 GB patch.

"Addressed an issue where an Online Service Error could occur temporarily when looking at photos on the world map."
Was curious if they really fixed this one, cause I took one photo that always blocks my Settlement icon on the map and gives the same Online error message, but no - still not fixed... Can't even delete that photo.

Other than that, can't tell the difference.

"Addressed an issue where allies would not help Eivor to open a door during Raids." Hopefully no more issues there.

They should really add some kind of sorting option in the inventory though. The weapon menu is such a mess with all the shields, hammers, spears mixed together. But I guess there's no point for it for armors since there are like only 6 sets so far to look at...

Sounds like the game is riddled with bugs though from what i hear from friends. I don't see any point in getting this yet. Maybe just wait for a sale or something down the line.

They just released a new patch, claiming to fix major ones. Already finished it though.

Way better than Odyssey. Still an Ubisoft game.

Damn, why use vikings if they cant follow through with it? Likely the mindset of youth and wanting to bury the parts of history they dont like at play.

How can you complain about dots in Valhalla when there were 50x more dots in Odyssey and they were 10x more meaningless.

You can do whatever you want. I am not saying you can't, have no right to or anything else.

BUT I have the right to disagree...

Remember Far Cry 2, from 56456 years ago, that had the technology there? Laughing

Can you finish the main quest on a challenging setting while doing as little of the small side content as possible?

You probably want to reach a certain level. Too bad the content for reaching it might be dreadfully boring.

Yes. That is the route I chose. But even still. I am bored out of my mind here.

The combat stays exactly the same from beginning to end. And it's not a skillful combat. World is a massive grindfest. Characters I don't give two fucks about - annoying Viking hipster edgelords.

Funny, they can't write characters worth a shit, but they do have a nice multiethnic gay couple, so at least the agenda is in there. Priorities.

Still loads better than previous ACs from the past years. But still far from good. It's just not tight. It tires you, man. I burned out on it.

I wonder why people who hate the game so much, keep playing it.

And which AC had better combat, I wonder. This one's combat is by far the best it has ever been.

I also highly suggest playing it on the hardest difficulty. The combat feels a lot more responsive and visceral. In normal difficulty, you look at the enemies and they die.

And yeah, a problem is, like I mentioned already, that you too easily out level the zones. So the higher your level is compared to the zones level, the easier it becomes. I really think level scaling would/could have prevented that.

I just finished it, but encountered a bug (that was also present in 1.02) that wasn't fixed in 1.04. I'm unable to start a mystery in Hamtunscire. I also have some uncollected treasure maps, but I finished all regions, collected everything besides that.

For those who wonder, I can't complete the Saint Faith mystery in Hamtunscire. There's no "talk" prompt with the shouting priest. I tried quick saving/quick loading, restarting the game, lowering details to low. Nothing works and I'm completely unable to proceed with the quest.

Unfortunately I didn't see anyone else reporting the issue either. Sad

Anyway, the game was really good. I still think I prefer Origins out of the 3 of the "new" trilogy, but Valhalla is far better than Odyssey. I also like what they did with the story in the present time, they really turned it on its head and the consequences might be fascinating depending on what they do next. Very Happy

Spoilers:

Kind of weird that the game doesn't really "end", they just display a message that "you haven't finished everything! Upgrade your town, collect artifacts and mysteries" etc. even though I've done all of them. You don't actually have a final scene with the credits, which is pretty bizarre.

Anyway, it took me 106 hours for it all, apart from like 5-6 treasure maps that I didn't do yet and that bugged quest that literally takes like 2 minutes to finish from what I've checked on youtube. So maybe add another hour or so to actually complete it.

I disagree. Combat in Origins and Odyssee was way more dumbed down and what qte are you talking about?

Oh and out of curiosity, on what difficulty did you play? Maybe don't play in story mode? Wink

He's trolling you, Sin. Previous games were purely hack and slash whereas in this game they added weak points so you can finish those 1000 hp enemies faster. Clearly less spammy, more tactical. People using game shortcomings to make their point, but then they compare it to games with even bigger flaws. Aka trolling.
