Yeah, it's always the same.
Same with the NBA 2K series, the first one after a new console generation is "next gen" on the consoles but last gen on the PC.

I think you people are deluded how underpowered last gen consoles, in particular CPUs, were, and, thus, how well FIFA 20/21 plays on the most potato of PCs.
I'm not excusing EA here, but they most likely have improved FIFA a lot, especially in AI, and animation interpolation and counts, because suddenly these consoles are no longer limited by shit CPU from 8 years ago.

The real shame is why the PC version of FIFA hasn't advanced over the years to include much better feature set, like it used to, back in the day. That way, it wouldn't have been a total shock to the playerbase, when you suddenly need an eight core CPU to run FIFA, like it will eventually be. And then you'd have the total hurr durr retards going "but FIFA 21 plaed like a draem on muh gaeming laptop with Core 2 Dou, but now FIFA 22 runs like shit".

As a veteran player, nothing EA talks about with advanced AI or tactics ever turns out to be true, always well written and then it's a complete shitshow after the novelty wears off, don't fool yourself thinking anything written about "Next Gen" is anything beyond the new camera mode and improved textures.
This company in it's current state has only one priority: money.
If you don't believe me check the reddit and at the same time the issues of the past 5 iterations alone. There's a reason they are voted as the most hated company for 2 times in a row already.

New FIFA isn’t out. And all other FIFAs were limited by terrible CPUs. I’m not saying “zOmG it’s happening this time”, I’m just saying, they can finally do it. Remember that FIFA runs at 60fps on console, so the previous generation of consoles (including the “Pro” consoles).
For me, single player is fine. It’s fine on Switch too, and that’s even older codebase. I just want them to fix the fucking awkward animation transitions.

They aren't saying it's impossible, they are saying it will take a lot stronger PCs to run, which is probably true, and that won't be "inclusive" to all their dumbos with "gaeming" laptops with Intel dual core and integrated graphics.
I'm not sure about anything, just saying that they have an opportunity now, which they did not have for a long time. We will see how much they take advantage of the compute power in a few weeks. That's unrelated to PC. Every generation, they drag the PC version a few years because of said cheap dumbos. The jump from Ignite to Frostbite engine was primarily a tooling and graphics transition, and I wasn't really happy with it. A dedicated engine will always give a better result, and I do feel, had they stuck with upgrading their engine properly, it would have been better. But from gameplay standpoint, or indeed, animations and animation transitions, there was very little difference between the two engines because of how CPU starved the last generation of consoles has been from the start.
BTW, when I say "single player", I mean a tournament or a league, I couldn't give a toss about "create a player", "create a team" or the laughable "childo from teh hood success story" type of narrative they had there for a while.
With everything bad about EA, which I agree with almost everything, FIFA is still a far better game than Konami eDerp Derpball 20Derp1. As the years have gone by, there is just no comparison.
Regarding the Switch, I didn't say I am OK with what they are doing, I said that it plays fine for me, within what I call "single player". I bought FIFA on Switch once, then have been pirating that shit for the last two years. You see, as I am not a serious follower of clubs, I couldn't give a toss how updated the clubs in the game are. I just pick a random team I have heard of, and depending on how challenging I want this particular game to be, pick a stronger, similar or weaker team, and play.

BTW, I was one of supporters of using the older Ignite engine on Switch, instead of going 30fps choppy shit like NBA2K, which looks far worse than PC or consoles, and also runs at 30fps, because the engine doesn't fit the hardware (PBR). They could have continued working on that Ignite-based FIFA, and add features. Like I said, I couldn't care if the story mode was on Switch. But they could have had the Champions League presentation and commentary duo on Switch; that just requires some work, which they clearly didn't want to do on Switch.
