@Frant that would be idiotic business tactics, but I'm not a business man obviously. Producing like crazy and selling all the product to the crazy consumers would be much more profitable I think. I think they just wanted to really get the end year release, AMD did the same.

im not into conspiracy theories and i really think it's mostly because of covid.
but if it's what you guys think, then they could sell the new cards for a higher price while at the same time get rid of the old ones which otherwise no one with a right mind would buy.
i have multiple shops on my watch and the 20xx cards sell just fine right now, some shops even sold them out.
if my 970 would die now, i rather would stay on my onboard intel, or buy a used card for 20 euros (if i would have amd and no onboard), but not getting scammed with an old 20xx card, not because they are bad, but because they are not priced right anymore, prices have changed with the new cards, but not for the shops. and of course if they don't sell those 30xx cards for the msrp (with maybe 10-30 euros on top) i will also not get those.

it's not like it's medicine and i NEED it or otherwise i will die. why are people so stupid man. of course i want a new card but i won't let me get scammed and feel like an idiot the next 5 years while using it.

today a german retailler had the zotac 3070 for 570€ in stock, that's the best i could find so far -- immediatly sold out

so i guess/hope(?) the situation is going to improve over the next weeks (...or it gets much worse when everybody wants to secure a GPU for the christmas lockdown)

AMD is too nice compared to Nvidia with their proprietary stuff. I guess they sacrifice an advantage in order to improve support on Intel platforms.

That's obviously part of it; rushing for holiday sales. However, the marketing psychology of creating a massive demand at start as well as getting the extra PR for their GPU's constantly being out of stock as soon as they come in (ie. putting the idea that the cards are so good that they can't produce enough of them) does have some merit to it methinks. But I'm just ranting, I have no proof or insight, just a simple hypothesis.

I've seen 3080's going for that price. I'd wait a while if you can, let this clusterfuck settle down and the second hand prices will come down once the new cards are more readily available.

Ok thanks. CP2077 itches too much. Must. Resist.

The fuck? Least I've seen is 700 for a 3080, one samaritan guy that he only used it for testing. Confused

350 euros for a 2070 super is a good price. Don't expect it to be cheaper in the coming 6 months.

Ain't gonna settle down till middle of 2021, if ever. Any new product is immediately bought up by bot scalpers on release, so most have no chance. I blame eBay, as they will not stop people from selling that stuff at nonsense prices, as their cut is just too much to pass by.

You can get most cards now if you are willing to pull out the stops and 'F5' it all day, and maybe pay over the odds, but it's not worth the time or effort, let alone, the extra dosh.

In this case patience is a virtue. Stick with your current hardware (unless it died on you) until the stocks have stabilized.

Cyberpunk will be released when you can get hold of a card, so delayed again until Xmas 2021 Wink

Still, my old trusty 1080ti will do into next year Smile

Save for the durrs that really don't need an upgrade, but must buy that shiny new GPU to brag NOW, for the many people that have been holding out for a while to upgrade and the ones whose card died it's a shame to have to endure with the current bullshit.
Stay strong mens Sad

I am not getting it yet, I decided to get PC around Q1 2021.

So I am waiting to see what intel has to offer on terms of CPUs and then making final decisions.
