@Silent_Lurker Amazon sells it for 800. You have to be fast though, it comes and goes.

Yes this is what you get when you render native resolution at lower res. DLSS 2.0 is great, but there can be glitchy artifacts on effects and the sharpening is sometimes too much, i hate over sharpened image. It also doesnt work correctly on ultrawide resolutions, atleast not at 5120x1440.

What happens at 5120x1440 when you use DLSS?

So I canceled my order and returned back in a "Wait for reasonable price" mode. |
This is the correct mode , as you can't lose, and all the while, that 3080Ti is inching closer, lol Now, you probably will have to wait another 6 months after release to get it, but hey! |
Though the 3080ti will probably be 899-999. So theres an extra 200-300 bucks on top of the scalping to be considered. If you know you need the VRAM then theres no helping it but otherwise doesn't seem like a great deal.
Though apparently it will come with extra SMs to inch closer to the 3090. But it's all rumors for now.
I like the part where they added "Whoops guess raytracing in Legion doesn't properly work in the press drivers, so the benchmark results are invalid. But lets keep them up anyway"
While also benchmarking the game on Very High instead of maxed out so we get into that high framerate region where AMD pulls ahead.
Cause everybody who gets a $700 card and already plays at a low resolution like 1080p doesn't max out the settings but settles for some medium to high settings.

At this rate a possible 3080ti will go for 1000-1200. |
Some paid over 1000€ for the same peformance by choosing RTX 2080 Ti.
699€ is OK price if you consider how much time we spend at home during these years and there arent that many options in that performance category, are they?

And this is why scalping will never cease. A new product comes and we'll sit having these same conversations and discussions all over again. The planets population grows and peoples interest in games only grows. Each generation there is an increased demand and shit just gets worse.

no it's not an ok price, stop that baiting shit. 499 euro for the 3070 FE or similiar clocked cards like the dual asus are a ok price for this kind of performance these days. 599 euro for oc versions etc. everything else is a scam.
same for the 3080. 3080 fe + similiar clocked 3080's with cheap coolers for 699 euro. 799 euro for oc versions with good coolers.
thank god there at least a few shops which sells them at this price, even tho you have to wait forever for them to arrive. still better to get ripped of by scammers and shops which try to profit. |
Of course everyone would like a cheaper price, but the situation is what it is. No one can argue that cheaper price wouldnt be better.

i don't want a cheaper price, i want the msrp, like with every other product.
playstation or xbox got a even higher demand then graphic cards, still shops sell them for the normal msrp.
it's only the fucked up pc hardware shops which think they can fuck users over with slapping 100-200 euros on the cards. for example on alternate.de on the first day you could get a 3080 eagle for 699 euro (msrp) if you were fast. few hours later it was 100 euros more. that is not acceptable in any case. i got no problem with waiting, i could have bought the FE for 499 euro a few days ago, which i posted here, but im not in a hurry. but for people who are it's fucked up. sell them for the normal price and let the people wait but don't scam them like ebay fuckers.
alternate was my #1 shop for hardware, i will never buy there anything in my life again. not because it's not available, it's not their fault, but because they scam their customers.

Are these artifacts worse than those of TAA? I don't think so, from what I have seen. And is sharpening an inherent feature of DLSS or just something people enable that comes with the games that support it? I agree with you about sharpening, I'd rather have a stable image that might be a tad softer, especially in 4K, rather than over-sharpened garbage, but remember, people were forcing sharpening using DerpFX injector. People are just retarded.

It's all about supply and demand and I suspect NV and partners (as well as AMD) are "scalping" their own products by letting them trickle out in order to keep the demand up to make them more "precious" and increase the craving in the customers to ignore the rather high prices, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing paper launches/this under-supply nonsense every damn time. Once they've sold X amount of GPU's they've locked in the prices in the minds of the customers (products that are rarely if ever sold at MSRP these days like they used to) who shout "just take my monnnnies".

493€ is the lowest list price, but it's not in stock. It starts at like 540€ for actual availability.

I'm completely with Freiwald here. MSRP or gtfo.
I'm almost certain at this point the MSRP is a marketing ploy to get people sucked into buying these cards.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
