not really. They kinda changed how pretty much everything works. Stealth, exploration, mission design, combat, progression, items. I didnt like Odyssey as i found it pretty boring and its missions very thin. Im having a surprisingly good time with this

I am still very much enjoying this.

Would I pay 120$ for the ultimate Edition?

Hell No.

is it worth to play for the 15€ I paid and with which I can then also give WDL a try and maybe some other games I haven't played?

Hell Yes!

I'm hating this one so far Sad

- Dull combat
- Dumb IA
- Poor optimization
- The same bloat as always, maybe even worse because you loss a lot of time searching for undergrounds chests.
- Broken physics all over the place
- Game breaking bugs (had to exit to the menu several times)

I will continue playing it since I played every AC game, but so far this one is one of the worst one for me.

So you basically want a fucking AC game where theres is nothing to find, right? And how would that fucking work then? It would need a very linear fantastic godlike story I presume?! Or it would need a revolutionary fucking AI so that just doing stuff in a city is a lot of fun.

Reviews give it a super shitty 60-70 or a super good 80-100...its all there.

PC Gamer gave it a 9.2 and calls it the best AC. I agree more with Destructoid with their 6.5.

I'm not saying that they should remove all the bloat, but in some areas the golden/silver dots are way too many. It's exhausting just looking at the bar of each area. I'm just tired of developers adding bloat to open-world just to justify more "gameplay" hours. And that's from someone to played all AC games and completed some of them 100%.

This is the least bload out of any AC game and has the best combat out of any of them. All the games until Origins arent worth discussing since they're press button to win. And this is better and has better feedback than both Origins or Odyssey, In the constraints of this series, this one has by far the best combat. Its not exactly a high bar, but anyway.

You're also wrong about the "bloat" since there isnt any. At least in the sense of older titles. The fact that treasures are now a mini puzzle, that you have to search for them is a good thing, thats one of the reasons it doesnt feel like bloat. And the fact that every event is hidden until you stumble on them is also good and the opposite of bloat. And every one is handmade and self contained in the area that you found it also good, instead of the pathetic fetch quests in earlier games.

When you're stealthing in a camp or fort and you fuck something up and end up in battles, now only the soldiers in the imediate veciinity hear you and come to you, instead of the entire fort. This alone is a huge change.

It seems you just dont vibe with the game and you wanted to put some labels on why, but those arent acurate. I kinda laughed when PC Gamer said this is the best one, but it may actually be true. AC from 1 to Syndicate i've always considered bad games. Basically Valhalla has as competitors the previous 2 games, which it bests i feel

There you have it. You are tired of this shit after fucking completing every game. That is more than understandable. You shouldnt have fucking completed the other AC games Very Happy But as long as there are just dots which you can fucking ignore I dont see that big of a prob.

Best combat? It plays worse than a generic MMO, and it's a step back from Odyssey, IMO. Weapon hits are slow, yet you can dash ridiculously as if it were a hack 'n slash game. It's not realistic nor fur, and it's very inconsistent in its mechanics and speed, not to mention the IA which sometimes enemies stand literally looking at you (mostly archers).

Bloat is there in the sense that the game forces you to do stuff you don't want to do in order to progress in the main story, like having to do raids or collect materials in order to upgrade your settlement. Everything is optional of course, but then again, people (like me) who tend to gather every single silver coin or chest, "enjoys" gather stuff just because it's there, and in some areas the Wealth and Mistery icons are just too many. It's not healthy.

Maybe you are right that I don't vibe with the game, or maybe I had high hopes for it and my first impressions of the game were not as good as I had hoped. Technically speaking, I think Valhalla is a mess. As I mentioned early, I play most AC games at 100% (and have all statues/action figures from the series), and I've never seen one so broken as this one.

+1. Also, it helps to have a story supporting the incentive to raid settlements. Was never inclined to do it in Odyssey, why would I? Just to have the thing checked on the minimap..

Sounds like playing with shield makes it even easier than it is. Im playing with dual 2 handed axex. Im not parying, its pure fighting, evading, trying to break their shields and trying to land blows with the slow moving 2 handed axes. Sometimes you have to break in mid attack because the axe moves to slow and they already began their attack. Try to change your style as what you're describing doesnt sound too apealing

Why would they bother with overhauling combat though? Even if it wasn't Ubisoft we're talking about? If they did anything like that the game would barely sell IMO. It's all about mashing some button(s) and feeling awesome. That's always been the case with their games, feeling awesome.
I really like the worlds they create in these games and I even liked the future sequences in the first games, but purely judged for gameplay these games are a big joke. I'll probably play this once it's cracked and patched, but none of the AC games ever left a lasting impression on me.

I didn't think anyone would possibly defend the combat in this

You can just wait a few seconds for them to attack you, press Q to counter (in the biggest opportunity window ever) and then press R to finish them. So combat can basically boil down to pressing Q and then R like a fucking QTE simulator. Otherwise you can hack and slash your way through it without much thought. This is a huge step down from what was already pretty basic.

The only time combat has been remotely challenging is when you fight people who have the red skull over them

What difficulty are you playing on, and how much time have you played? It definitely gets more difficult later on, enemies don't get stunned after one parry, and later on there are enemy types who block your attacks (like guards with bigger kite shields that are unbreakable, as well as spearmen that block with it and immediately attack).

There is quite a ton of variety in combat enemy archetypes, I just encountered weird guards in East Anglia where they hide in bushes, jump all over the place, throw daggers and fire bombs at you etc.

I definitely enjoy the combat in this more than any AC game from the new trilogy (as in Origins and Odyssey)

I'll just play on medium if the difficulty is just the spongeness and the damage the enemies do.

I wouldn't say it's bad, I think it's pretty ok.

Every time I scan and see tons of gold/teal/white dots, I groan.

More shit to pick up isn't how you extend play time.
