This is no surprise, I don't know any game to use Nvidia's proprietary ray tracing (I believe is called OptiX). All these games use DXR, which is the result of a collaboration between Microsoft and Nvidia.

No it looks fucking better with RTX on. And a lot of RTX will always fuck your GPU and I HIGHLY doubt Cyberpunk will run totally smooth with fucking RTX....

RTX is low resolution in watch dogs. Turns it in to smudgy shit. 3080 here.
Def not worth it.

Watch dogs ray tracing is very unrealistic, it turns entire streets into mirrors, for a realistic look reflextions should be blurry and distorted. It's there on selected objects to show off and the reflections are put to 11 for people to notice. When it isn't used you have ugle borders like next to water at street level. Do think it adds to the game though, the game looks better with ray tracing. MFS is the same, you can see your entire instrumentation in the cockpit reflected and it looks stunning and next gen, but that's not how it should look in real life.
I doubt cyberpunk will be any better and it will probably use raytracing in a limited way and when used it will be to much so people can see it.
Full realistic ray tracing is impossible with current hardware anyway. Just try the quake demo, it will melt your pc down on max settings.

Well, Ubisoft didn't spend many resources on this game despite asking for a full price. The main reason the streets look like mirrors is that puddles are not affected by physics in any way. There are no ripple effects when cars drive by or people step into them.

No, if you look better puddles are raytraced, tarmac isn't. Wet tarmac should have reflections but there are none. So ray tracing is not used on all surfaces.
I am not a graphics expert but curious on this point: are there any games that have physics in puddles used on such a scale, that seems impossible imho.

It has nothing to do with that. It will sell like hotcakes whenever it releases. The problem is they just burnt a probably 100+ million dollar marketing campaign for the November release with the last delay. They are basically committed to the December date now, whether the game is ready or not (sounds like it is probably not). Unless of course they were already planning on delaying it into next year right from the get-go, but that seems unlikely that they wouldn't just have announced that.

Plus recently they put an ad on Times Square with the December date, which was pretty visible during the covarage of the US elections.
This was also a huge investment, so I guess they are happy with this release date for now.

I am really interested in what the fucking game has to offer besides the main story. What can you do in the fucking game and what is fun and what isnt open world bullshit. I bet we will get fucking disappointed there.
Maybe they are adding stuff RIGHT NOW in the delayphase.

It was already stated that there will be a lot of side quests, with some of them even having an impact on the main story. There will aslo be 70+ street stories, which will be of a smaller scope.
Also racing mini-game, shooting range, boxing, probably pool, plus some more mystirious mini-games that are yet to be announced in future Night City Wire episodes. There will be a casino also, from what I've read.
You can take and do bounties on enemies that are suffering from cyberpsychosis as well, and all the gimicky stuff like you can eat at a restaurant, go to a club, have a one night stand and of course braindance which will have a lot to offer.
Also there were some speculations that there is a mini game that is involving The Net somehow, so I think there will be a lot to do, it just needs to fuckin release already

Ironically the one game where Synthwave would have been the most appropriate is filled to the brim with mumble rap and other questionable choices. It's not like there's only one type of Sythwave either. Even discounting the use of different music genres in districts I have no hope for the music in this game from all I've seen
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Given the increasingly poor quality of popular music, it might just be a rather accurate portrayal of what the future has in store for us. Maybe it's even too optimistic
