i mean what do you expect to get at this price and hardware? My expectiosions before i ordered and after the reviews/previews etc are the same.

This has always been true about consoles. This generation you are getting very little.

I didn't even think the XSX and PS5 will do 4K 60fps, it just not possible as you can see on the same hardware on PC. Do i think it's somthing amazing? no, it's just a better PlayStation and Xbox, thats it.

Only if you crank diminishing-results settings to max. If you put console quality settings, you can do 4K60 just fine on a 2060 even.

Shame to hear PS5 doesn’t have VRR though- that was a surprise!

How will this affect on games? i have C9 and getting PS5, what does VRR get you? Thanks Smile

Really? tbh i didn't know a 2060 can do 4K 60fps... i mean i go by my own experience.. i have 3600, RX 590, 16 GB and 500 GB SSD, that costed me last year more then $1300 here in Israel, the best i can do is 1080p 60fps with mix of medium and some high setting...

so for me it's a no brainer to move on to consoles. Might upgrade my PC some day.

It gives what Freesync/Gsync give you; your TV renders at the framerate the console is able to render at, reducing the need for vsync (or frame tearing), and thus a smoother experience and lower input lag (theoretically).

Sounds good! at least XSX got it Laughing Thank you for the info. Smile still hope that games will run good on PS5.

edit: wait so if lets say Demon's Souls has a 1440p 60fps mode.. But no VRR on PS5, my TV is C9... help me understand what i'm losing here by not having VRR.. Thanks Smile

If the console can’t keep up with the game, you can see tearing, or vaunt might bring the frame rate to 30 or 15, which is not optimal. C9 does support VRR input.

For me I’m getting a PS5 for the controller. If it’s as good as I’ve read, then it’ll be the most next gen feature out of everything.

I was hoping that Sony studios will be taking full advantage of the controller, and all reviewers agreed that in Astro's Playroom it's awesome, but then some of the reviews of the new Spiderman said it was lackluster in that game. If true, that's disappointing.

I think the new Spiderman game was initially developed for PS4 and just ported to PS5 with a few bells and whistles quickly to have a solid launch title.

I think we will have to wait for real exclusives before the gamepad is really used.
Ratchet & Clank hopefully uses it efficiently. This is the game i'm waiting the most. Horizon 2 I'm starting to think it's gonna be another PS4 port.

^Exactly that about Spiderman.

Actually this is why I would rather wait for a PS5 version of TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsuchima, so I can at least benefit of the entire experience - that if they implement everything the new console can do.

One can only dream.

Can anyone explain the PS5 controller jacking off going on? So it basically has HD rumble from Switch, or the Xbox Elite controller? Is this the great innovation?

Speak about gimmicks...

Reminds me of the "Sixaxis" or the touch pad of the DS4, where basically game uses the "innovative" gimmicks.

Supposedly its significantly more than the HD rumble from Switch, to the extent where you can kinda feel the sensation of different surfaces, as if it was a living thing you're holding.
It all sounds very gimmicky to me, but so far I've heard only positives about it, going way beyond usual marketing crap.
I will see what the fuss is all about in a bit more than a week I guess.

Also very curious about the whole 3D Tempest Audio thing, even got the Sony Pulse 3D headphones ordered along as they're supposed to work perfectly in tandem with the haptics of the Dual Sense.
I wonder if I can use all of this productively during one of my PSVR porn sessions

The DualSense sounds interesting but at the same time there's reports it drinks the battery like a motherfucker, will try at first and if it's anything like the DualShock 4 then i will disable it like i did on PS4.

But this is also true on the Elite Controller's precise vibration. On racing games like Dirt Rally, you feel a completely different feel when on dirt road vs tarmac, you feel the exhaust pops and bangs, you feel the brakes. Much more pronounced than on a normal XO controller. So where is the innovation?

The Switch was a good idea, but because the joycons are just too small to get a real feeling, no matter how precise it is. The Pro controller is better, but very few own that, or use it enough.

HD rumble on Switch was great, but sadly no dev ever really made use of it.
I remember it was only the first minigames like 1-2-Switch that really showed it off, in one of the games you were moving tiny metal balls in your hand and you could really feel them moving across your palm and count how many passed precisely.
After that one nobody ever put any effort in it again, probably gonna be the same with Dual Sense haptics after Astrobot.
I do respect this kind of innovation, if done right of course. Can't stand consoles always trying to go for best graphics, like a bull running into a wall over and over again, not realizing they can never beat a PC. Instead consoles should focus on Nintendo-style innovation.

Yea true, BOTW also to some extent for more precise feedback, but that wasn't much more than what could be done with normal vibration, either way I never got the satisfying feeling of moving balls in my hand again Sad

Got my Series X yesterday. Agree with the earlier post re: it being smaller than I expected. I still wish it was a different shape though.

It's extremely quiet / nearly silent, however it does put out a lot of heat!

Shame there isn't much to test it properly yet.

Honestly though. I don't think there is much to innovate without it just looking gimmicky. Unless we get true VR where you're basically in the world and it feeling like your body. Would be amazing, but likely not gonna happen before we're old and decrepit.

But that was my point in the first place (which got that “controller and audio” reply). This generation is completely bankrupt of ideas. The only thing it brings is moar power and that’s about it. There is no killer feature, no killer game. The PS5 design is killer, though. Killer of enthusiasm. Laughing
