so these ships flying overhead, are they actual players or NPCs? Wasn't there something where other players are in the game but you cannot see them?

That was the 1st iteration but they have added MP since and now I think you can also meet "flying" NPCs as well.

From what I understand, you can actually follow them to planetary stations and stuff and they land.

Player ships have markers on them, but it's incredibly rare to meet anyone randomly anyway. Pretty much every ship flying over head are NPC ships.

They did inplement full multiplayer a while back. At first it was just a random orb floating around where the other player was supposed to be, but now it's full interaction.

HG did do (or still do, I don't know) community missions from the Anomaly Station and in those missions every player taking part are transported to the same system and all share the same space, can see each other, interact, etc.

Plus there are several "hub" projects going on in the game that try to group players relatively close together. It's way more likely to bump into people around those hub areas.

oh wow, cool. I'm guessing if you attack the NPC ships, they will fight back or depending on the size of your ship, would they run?

I haven't played this since release. Interesting to see all of the changes.

What kind of "interactions" can you do with others? If you can't shag same sex characters I ain't ever buying this!

Nice.

Was finally giving it another try and got hooked a bit, lol. Even doing a permadeath run Smile

Will wait for the update and start fresh, but in survival

In normal the game just isn't fun.

No. These are all new.

This new enhanced is above the current ultra.

damn... then it's odd they didn't compare old "ultra" to new so we can see an even bigger progress in graphics.

The change is huge from first glance. Keep in mind this game is already 4 years old.

PS5 with haptic feedback

Is it any different to what we've had since 20 years on PC and older consoles? Just curious since you specifically mentioned it.

or "Force Feedback"... can't remember if it's on PC or not, been a while since i played.

It was cool 20+ years ago when it came out.. nowadays i don't know, i can live without it i think Razz i remember buying a large-ass joystick that had it, one of the first that had it.. it made quite a loud noise whenever it was activated hehe, it even required an extra cable for the force feedback, if i recall correctly..

maybe its something new on PS5? no idea.

actually it's still cool and very useful in simulators to this day.. but it doesn't bring in the big bucks any more.

i agree, i don't play simulators a lot though. it can be cool sometimes when something big approaches.. in Witcher 3 i believe it rumbles when you "sense" something, also a cool way since "sense" otherwise would have to be described graphically, or by a sound - less immersive i think.

I googled;

"According to WIRED's hands-on PlayStation 5 reveal, the PS5 uses "highly programmable" voice-coil actuators to deliver vibration. These little motors are the same kind of technology that allows speakers to vibrate and create sound, which means they're able to produce much more precise movements than the larger, spinning rumble motors. WIRED writer Peter Rubin said the PS5 controller's actuators enabled him to feel "distinct - and surprisingly immersive - tactile experiences" in Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

"Sand felt slow and sloggy; mud felt slow and soggy. On ice, a high-frequency response made the thumbsticks really feel like my character was gliding. Jumping into a pool, I got a sense of the resistance of the water; on a wooden bridge, a bouncy sensation.""

sounds interesting. no idea how rumble can translate to the feeling like you are e.g gliding...

I like the feedback when using a controller.

Thing is tho, it's still a controller Smile

Any game that requires control of 3 axes or more, I much rather play with kb/m.

There's some info here about the DualSense:

https://www.resetera.com/threads/dave-lee-what-makes-the-ps5-so-special.315679/

I don't understand many of what he said as I don't understand tech so much but from many vids i see that lot of reviewers seems to really like the new controller and it's haptic feedback. I always turn off vibration on my controller as i don't care for it and also save battery life, but will surely try this new method on the DualSense.

Let me address that.

So, I take it there's no 'enhanced' FOV (slider) in this latest update, huh?

There.
