Some really weird reactions to reviews that are critical of the game.
It's early access isn't it? Isn't criticizing things one of the main objectives of EA so that devs can fix these issues?
I'll probably wait for when it's out of EA. Larian's writing and execution always leaves me somewhat disappointed, so I'm hoping the final game will do the name "Baldur's Gate" justice especially since it's called Baldur's Gate 3.

Depends what you criticize. Remember that people are tossers and act like it's their own child you're criticizing. This is one of the mentalities i'll never figure out.

@AmpegV4
That's debatable I guess, yes.
But it was clear, that Bioware (rip) would never have made a sequel and imagine EA having a go at this (rip Dragon Age).
@Nodrim
That doesn't even make sense.

You don’t give a flying shit because you don’t know what the hype around a third BG game ever meant to fans of the series. So again, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
The game might still be quite good. Just apparently not a real successor to the series. But I’ll try it out some day and see for myself.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

It's not some run of the mill franchise either a very well known and what is considered the best CRPG series ever made. It continually tops RPG lists and is still discussed in 2020, but who cares pesky stats are bad, using math is bad, new game good, relate to me gamers, utub hit that like.

I don't get the "good game but not good sequel" comments.
Is it a good game or not? That's all that matters. Why should anyone's opinion of a game be influenced by the game's name - the name is nothing more than a tag to use when searching for the game. It can provide some very rough initial approximation of what to expect, but that initial approximation can be completely disregarded once you learn a bit more about the game's content and mechanics.

You don't get it, indeed.
Did you enjoy the sequel to Mass Effect called Dead Space?

Would you not be dissapointed if Halflife 3 releases as a card game or HOG title, what is hard to understand? Nothing wrong with good game but bad sequel, I plan on playing this but I'm expecting DOS3 set in DND universe, i knew it would be like that from day 1.

They greedy not only for your data, but also for your money: the cheapest price for the game I could find is 50€, when even Cyberpunk 2077 can be preordered with 34.95€.
IMO Larian is somehow changed, they might have discovered the taste of sweet, easy money. Streamlining (making accessible via generic dialogues) the narrative and script for the game is a good sign of what target they aim: the average Joe aka the masses. We can't burden sin371's mind with complex analysis of the world or weird philosophies and syllogisms, now, can't we?!
Even Geralt taking a shit would say things more interesting, unique or original than what I've read and heard so far in this game.
Discalimer:
Despite the malcontent, I remain lawful neutral and consider, objectively, that up until the launch day Larian still deserves a chance.
Spoiler: | That doesn't mean I can't point out - as often as I can - how they butchered my beloved Baldur's Gate. |
|
The issue isnt even the price, per se, it is what you GET for that price. GoG version that has hard online requirement to even start the game? For 50USD/EUR? Fuck off. If I'm to pay 50 I expect it to cater to all my entitled gaymer needs

Lots of potential lost in the first game. It keeps pressuring you in many directions at once, and who likes to feel pressured and not to get to take their time? Spend a little too much time and some of your companions will start attacking you.

TB is for nerds.
All those nerds passionate about Pen and Paper (D&D) games are actually a bit dorks and are afraid to get out, explore, experiment and most importantly, accept the challenge of chaotic, unpredictable situations. They need safe, strict rules to be comfortable (in their basements).
That's why they reject so vehemently the manly ways of RTwP.
Change my mind!

Don't you sound like a douchebag that way.
Frankly I like both approaches or even complex and lite RPG's. But I do have to admit, if you take the BG name as a sequel than deliver a Baldur's Gate game. Otherwise its better to do a reboot.
