this is interesting. what's the strategy here from a company's POV i wonder? Why remove Denuvo now?

so they had some deep sales for this one over the last weeks i reckon and now they remove the D*

is this a move by capcom(?) for the game to secure the only remaining target group's attention/recognition now by inviting even us shabby old persistent pirates? so that it their product is at least being "talked about" again and maybe generate some more sales from the isoDEMO crowd?

@ pho08

Another option - minimum Denuvo contract was expired - 6 months.

Maybe EMPRESS scared them - said that she will crack RE3 later.

yea its all about the contract, its not financially viable for most companies to keep it running longer than 6 months because by far the largest number or the total sales will happen in that time window.

Odd it hasn't been thrown out of more games after half a year too but I guess some studios like Ubisoft even after the GAAS...ran out..kept the Denuvo protection anyway.

Or from more online focused titles.
Would have expected almost all titles to eventually remove it over paying for a decreasing return on this investment from keeping it once the sales dwindle down even if momentary highs can still happen from sales but that's short-term gains.

EDIT: Even for bigger studios it's about numbers and if there's a constant cost here eventually it'd get removed unless there's some other deals or terms in place for that sort of setup.

Bulk or something when it's used on everything anyway?

Presumably removing the protection actually takes a little effort as all the triggers have to be removed and the game recompiled.

Most devs are probably too lazy to bother.

It is kind of funny when some games like Injustice 2 which is known to have issues due to Denuvo still have it and I really doubt that game still sells many copies a month so keeping Denuvo must be cheaper then to getting devs to make a new patch to remove it, unless they maybe have some lifetime Denuvo sub for games as well. Final Fantasy XV is another where Square Enix ended up removing Denuvo from Final Fantasy XII with its last patch but left it in XV which had a patch like 2 months later so all these companies choices do seem random on when to remove it.

Trying someone's rip (5min installer in an SSD, just WOW...) and using 5 of the 8GB my RTX 2070 Super can offer and the game has tearing even with V-Sync Off , 120hz and borderless 1080p, and slowness when outside at the city with many things at the same time.

What are the best settings or what should i disable to prevent shit to happen? (Something similar happened with the RE2R , hence the question)

Yep, this is more or less a standard procedure for us after the final content update is done and project wraps up. Cost-benefit of maintaining Denuvo implementation after a certain period does diminish.

Yep, sucks.

They did this trick with RE2 too, you know... And since most people are too rednecks to be sensitive enough to detect it, they slipped it right in for RE3 also. Damn devils!

BUT(!): both games being unplayable for me = less money spent in their direction = saved me some cash.

It's not like the yarr-version would have cost you money anyway

Thankies. Finished the game in 5h3#min yesterday but i used the healing coin , though i've used the herbs etc too.

The only issues i had with this game are "Dodging Hitboxes", along the Hospital's green killers and their 1-hit kills. Good thing i found out the grenades and served some to em

Also Jill , no matter how many backpacks ya get, "they're never enough".

Thank you, CAPCOM, for removing Denuvo on time. I was getting bored grinhurt

7/10

Can't afford to get the cracked version for games I like. DL-ing, torrents, archives, updates... etc. No time for that.

I only play and finish games I really, really like. And I usually buy these. No time or patience for anything else.

Just finished the standard mode in 4 hrs 30. It's insane what constitutes a AAA games these days. It's a decent, don't get me wrong, but waaay too short. I'd have been pissed if I paid money for it.

Finished in about 6 hours, including some backtracking. Glad i didnt drop 30 euro on it when it released.

It was ok, but way too short. I don't care about the newgame+ unlocks, so it's a one and done for me.

RE2 remake was way better than this.

Same here on standard I took all the time I could and even took it slow with the FPS mod on and off. 6Hrs.

It was very polished and enjoyable but keeps rushing the story on until it's over too quick.
Too much is cut from the original game, the boss fights aren't particularly challenging (last one is basically a hit glowing spots)

It's worth a play but def not a pay.

Standard is the equivalent of Easy mode on RE2make. Laughing It took me 10 hours on Hardcore (with retries).

Finished it, it was alright, but I liked RE2R better.

Did anyone else find the camera zooming in during the later Nemesis fights annoying? I played at max FOV and whenever that happened it made me uncomfortable.

5-6 hours is pretty short considering they are asking $70 USD. My playtime on RE2 was 15 hours (that contains a few restarts too, I plan to re-play that at some point). I don't really care for 7000 hours chasing stupid shit in games although I would kind of expect at least 8-10 hours here.
